after reaching EOL (End Of Life) shall be supported for a minimum period of 5 years from that
date.

Type Test Certificate: Provide Type Test Certificates from International Testing entity

Detail equipment assemblies and indicate dimensions, weights, loads, required
clearances, method of field assembly, components, and location and size of each field
connection.
Functional Block Diagram: Show single line interconnections between components for
signal transmission and control. Show cable types and sizes.
Dimensioned plan and elevations of equipment racks, control panels, and consoles.
Show access and workspace requirements.
UPS: Sizing calculations.
Wiring Diagrams: For power, signal, and control wiring.
Equipment List: Include every piece of equipment by model number, manufacturer, serial
number, location, and date of original installation. Add pretesting record of each piece of
equipment, listing name of person testing, date of test, set points of adjustments, name and
description of the view of preset positions, description of alarms, and description of unit output
responses to an alarm.

Environmental Conditions: Capable of withstanding the following environmental conditions
without mechanical or electrical damage or degradation of operating capability:

Exterior Environment: System components installed in locations exposed to weather
shall be rated for continuous operation in ambient temperatures of 5 to + 50 deg C
dry bulb and 20 to 90 percent relative humidity, condensing. Rate for continuous
operation when exposed to rain as specified in NEMA 250, winds up to 100 km/h.

Corrosive Environment: System components subject to corrosive fumes, vapors, and
wind driven salt spray in coastal zones.
Security Environment: Tamper switches connected to the Alarm system shall be
provided.
WARRANTY
A.
Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace
components of cameras, equipment related to camera operation, and control station
equipment that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period.

Warranty Period: 2 years from date of Substantial Completion.

Description
1.
The public unit shall be an easily identifiable, vandal resistant communications device
that is flush mounted on wall and constructed of stainless steel. The unit shall be
aesthetically pleasing and virtually impervious to damage, and shall include a high
quality, vandal resistant, hands free intercom device.
2.
The public intercom module shall be designed so that a single touch on the HELP button
shall immediately connect to the Central Command Center operator.
3.
All electrical components shall have quick disconnect terminals for easy service or
removal. All wiring shall be concealed within the enclosure and shall not be visible from
the outside of the unit.
4.
UPS power shall be provided to the unit.
5.
All communications to and from the Command Center shall be through IP Network/2 –
wire (as per Project BOQ)

The standard graphics text shall be “Emergency,” “Assistance,” “Help Point” as selected
by Owner and shall be 200 mm in length and placed above/below Public Intercom Unit
The graphics shall be a durable engineering grade reflective vinyl for high visibility and
legibility.
Standard text colour shall be “reflective orange”
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Examine pathway elements intended for cables. Check raceways and other elements for
compliance with space allocations, installation tolerance, and other conditions affecting
installation.
B.
Proceed with installation only after unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
3.2
WIRING
A.
Comply with requirements in Division 26 Section "Raceway and Boxes for Electrical Systems."
B.
Wiring Method: Install cables in raceways unless otherwise indicated.

Conceal raceways and wiring
C.
Wiring within Enclosures: Bundle, lace, and train conductors to terminal points with no excess
and without exceeding manufacturer's limitations on bending radii. Provide and use lacing bars
and distribution spools.
D.
Splices, Taps, and Terminations: For power and control wiring, use numbered terminal strips in
junction, pull, and outlet boxes; terminal cabinets; and equipment enclosures. Tighten electrical
connectors and terminals according to manufacturer's published torque tightening values. If
manufacturer's torque values are not indicated, use those specified in UL 486A 486B.
E.
Grounding: Provide grounding recommended in writing by manufacturer.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install Public Intercom Module flush on the wall.
B.
Connect all controls and adjust.
C.
Install power supplies and other auxiliary components at control stations unless otherwise
indicated.
D.
Avoid ground loops by making ground connections only at the control station.

"Identification for Electrical Systems."
FIELD QUALITY CONTROL & TESTING
A.
Testing Agency: Security Consultant shall perform tests and inspections.
B.
Manufacturer's Field Service: Engage a factory authorized service representative to inspect,
test, and adjust components, assemblies, and equipment installations, including connections.

Tests and Inspections:

Inspection: Verify that units and controls are properly installed, connected, and
labeled, and that interconnecting wires and terminals are identified.

Acceptance Testing Protocol: prepare and submit for approval of Security Consultant
at least 3 months prior to testing schedule
3.
Pretesting: Align and adjust system and pretest components, wiring, and functions to
verify that they comply with specified requirements. Conduct tests at varying lighting
levels, including normal and emergency operations. Prepare equipment for acceptance
and operational testing
4.
Test Schedule: Schedule tests after pretesting has been successfully completed and
system has been in normal functional operation for at least 14 days. Provide a
minimum of 10 days' notice of test schedule.
5.
Operational Tests: Perform operational system tests to verify that system complies
with Specifications. Include all modes of system operation. Test equipment for proper
operation in all functional modes.
E.
System will be considered defective if it does not pass tests and inspections.
F.
Prepare test and inspection reports.
3.5
DEMONSTRATION & TRAINING
A.
Engage a factory authorized service representative to train Owner's maintenance personnel to
adjust, operate, and maintain equipment.
