APS8801
6-channel DC/DC
True Digital Power IC with Integrated FETs
Description
Adaptive Digital Power has developed a 6-channel DC/DC digital switching regulator. Offering 4 BUCK
regulators each capable of sourcing 3A of current and 2 LDO’s each capable of sourcing 0.5A of current. The
I2C digitally controlled regulators deliver unprecedented performance, enabling higher efficiency, better
transient response and ease of use across a broad range of voltage regulator designs.
The APS8801 includes a proprietary Digital Signal Processor and mixed-mode analog design. The adaptive
digital architecture enables four independent DC/DC switching regulators in a compact 64-pin QFN package
and is also capable of acting as a digital controller. As a digital controller it is capable of regulating external
Power FETs thereby extending its voltage regulation range beyond 5V and current up to 30A. OTP memory
allows flexibility in configuring the chip in the absence of the I2C control.

Adaptive Digital Power Advantages
A digital control algorithm provides a true adaptive adjustment of the digital
control loop to take into account all system variations, while guaranteeing
stability of the converter. It can maintain the original performance when
changes in the power train (phase dropping, component variation) would
otherwise lead to sub-optimal stability criteria with a fixed analog controller.
