International Young Scientists Forum on Applied Physics | YSF-2015
On behalf of Your Smart & Friendly Organizing Team of the International
Young Scientists Forum on Applied Physics (YSF-2015) it is my pleasure
and honor to welcome you to Dnipropetrovsk for this event.
Though being held for the first time, YSF-2015 already has some
background. It has originated from two separate conferences: Kharkiv
Young Scientists Conference (successfully held and hosted by
O. Ya. Usikov Institute for Radiophysics and Electronics NASU for previous
14 years) and Conference on “Problems of Theoretical Physics” (held by
the Young Scientists Council of the Bogolyubov Institute for Theoretical
Physics NASU from 2009 to 2014). With great assistance of our cothinkers from Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University, which
became a host of the Forum, and our strong desire and will to unite a lot
of active young scientists from different institutions in one place, YSF2015 is ready to start!
YSF-2015 is designed to be an international scientific meeting and a place
where it is all about interactions, finding collaborators, projects and
motivation to move forward in science and, last but not least, about
having fun. Broad spectrum of topics covered, several workshops and
active social program – this is how we are going to fulfill these goals!
YSF-2015 results from almost a year of planning and organization. I
would like to thank all session chairs and technical program committee
members for the selection of speakers and reviewing the abstracts and
forum papers; all speakers who accepted our invitation to give plenary
and invited session talks at the Forum; the participants of the Workshop
of opportunities for bringing innovations to the scope of YSF; the sponsors
that contributed financially and allowed us to provide the participants with
the travel grants.
WELCOME TO THE INTERNATIONAL YOUNG
SCIENTISTS FORUM ON APPLIED PHYSICS
Dear Colleagues,
And at last, I thank each and every of our amazing organizing team for
being active and brave enough to make something new.
I hope that participation in YSF-2015 will bring you helpful experience and
warm memories. And now, let’s start working, and see you again at the
Forum next year! Stay tuned, we will provide you with the details.

PALACE OF STUDENTS OF OLES HONCHAR
DNIPROPETROVSK NATIONAL UNIVERSITY
1 Shevchenko Sq., Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine
International Young Scientists Forum on Applied
Physics will be held at Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk
National University. It is one of the leading classical
universities in Ukraine. It was originally known as
Yekaterinoslavskyi University and was opened on the
basis of higher courses for women in September
1918 in Yekaterinoslav (now Dnipropetrovsk). Four
schools were included into it. They were School of
History and Philology, School of Medicine, School of Law and School of Physics and
Mathematics.
The university today is a higher educational establishment of the IV-th level of
accreditation (the highest level in Ukraine). It has 20 schools, Higher Educational
Pedagogical College, Technical School of the Rocket Machine-Building, Zhovti Vody
Industrial Technical School, Regional Centre for Continuous Study "Prydniprovia", Centre
for Humanitarian Problems of Education and Regional Centre for Education Monitoring.
Nowadays over 15000 students study at the university at 87 majors. They are students
from Ukraine and also foreign students from more than 20 countries of the world. The
university has well reputed post-graduate courses and its educational and scientific
programmes are provided at the level of the best national and international standards.
All forum sessions will be organized in auditoriums of the Palace of Students of DNU
which is located in the Park of T.G. Shevchenko. This building is the former Potyomkin
Palace and famous historical landmark of Ukraine. The Palace was built in the garden
area which is today a City Park bought from a famous retired Cossack leader in the end
of the XVIII century and still keeps the original shape.

CITY OF DNIPROPETROVSK
WELCOME TO DNIPROPETROVSK
The city of Dnipropetrovsk is situated on the Dnieper river in east-central part of
Ukraine. It is Ukraine's third largest city by population and has 1 million inhabitants
The old fortress settlement has existed since the middle of the 16th century. The new
town was founded in 1776 by the Russian Prince, military leader and statesman
Potemkin by order of Catherine II, Empress of the Russian Empire and was called
Yekaterinoslav from 1776 to 1926. In 1926 its name was changed to Dnipropetrovsk
after Dniper and in honor of Grigory Petrovsky, soviet state leader. The city was
originally envisioned as the Russian Empire's 3rd capital city, after Moscow and Saint
Petersburg.
A vital industrial centre of Soviet Ukraine, Dnipropetrovsk was one of the key centres of
the nuclear, arms, and space industries of the Soviet Union. In particular, it is home to
the Yuzhmash, a major space and ballistic missile design bureau and manufacturer.
Because of its military industry, Dnipropetrovsk was a closed city until the 1990s. At the
present time it is still the major centre of high-technology industries, education,
machine-building, metallurgy and trade.
Dnipropetrovsk is well-known as one of the greatest scientific centers of the state
because of a large number of scientific, research and development organizations. There
are more than 50 scientific research, development and experimental subdivisions of the
industrial enterprises in the city.
