INDIVIDUAL PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
CHECKLIST
The Individual Professional Improvement Program (IPIP) is designed to recognize that many non-credit activities enhance
the effectiveness of the professional educator. Current certified employees who plan to participate in professional growth
activities that do not issue credit or pay (ex: site-level curriculum meetings), may apply for IPIP inservice credit prior to
beginning the activity. A total of twenty IPIP credits may be earned during one's career.
THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES APPLY:
_____ 1. Verification that credit or pay for this activity is not available through ANY means. Forms of verification
include official documents, pamphlets, or flyers.
_____ 2. The activity is a minimum of fifteen (15) instructional hours per one credit and the dates/times for instruction are
clearly indicated. (If activity is a seminar or workshop, attach a pamphlet or flyer showing dates and times.)
_____ 3. The activity is scheduled outside the participant's regular workday, unless Request for Leave form (without
pay) is attached.
_____ 4. To ensure approval, applications need to be submitted 15 days prior to the beginning of the activity to:
Department of Professional Learning
1150 Matley Lane, Reno NV 89502
Fax: 333-5097
In the event of unusual circumstances, individuals may apply up to one year after activity completion date.
However, if approved, it will be effective as of approval date. Because some activities are not approved, it is
recommended that you apply prior to the activity to be sure that credit will be granted.
_____ 5. The activity matches one of the approved categories, is directly related to student achievement and is beyond the
expected duties of an educator.
_____ 6. The application is complete and signed by both the applicant and his/her supervising administrator.
_____ 7. The activity is scheduled for completion within 12 calendar months.
_____ 8. After the activity, all paperwork is completed properly and returned within 3 weeks, including a brief summary
of the activity.
_____ 9. After the seminar/conference/workshop, there is verification of hours of attendance. Verification includes
certificates of completion or similar documentation.
