Introduction
This standard defines the details to be observed for ensuring parts identification for parts subject
to mandatory identification, e.g., for:
- Steel components (according to HAMM drawing)
- purchase parts, spare parts and
- plastic components.
1
Changes
-01: The standard has been modified so as to also include identification of all others parts
(e.g., flexible tubes, hydraulic components) apart from specific identification for steel
component parts.
-02: HAMM logo
-03: Supplement to identification design for foam parts and turned parts (Parts
identification group I)
-04: Complete revision "new CI"
-05: Correction in TKZ IIA (chapter 4.4.1): Logo placed in the middle
-06: new CI (Logo)

Parts subject to mandatory identification
Parts shall be subject to mandatory identification within the meaning of this standard whenever
they belong to any of the groups indicated in item 3.
To limit the effort required for parts identification to a reasonable extent, the following rules
shall apply:
 Every part of a new plant shall be identified in accordance with this HWN as a general rule.
 If not subject to mandatory identification yet, parts shall be identified whenever they are
complemented by the technical Service department or when they have been approved as
subject to identification by the steering committee for development and design.

Part identification groups (TKZ)
5.1
General Information
5.1.1 Position and orientation of part identification
Parts manufactured as defined in HAMM drawings have a note assigned to them on the drawing in
order to show the position of the identification/signature position required.
This is marked by the following:
Signing position / identification as per HWN 2125621
The following must be considered for the identification / signing position during the design phase:
- Distinctive areas visible at the finished machine should not be used for identification
- The component must not be impaired by identification (e.g., strength)
- The signing position should be detectable in the installed condition.
5.2
Subordinate parts – mostly steel components (TKZ group 0)
5.2.1 Excecution of part identification
The identification happens by blow counts, needles, engraving or etching.
5.2.2 Contents and structure
The identification must be consistent.
4.2.2.1. Contents
Identification consists of 3 lines containing the following information:
- Material number with revision status
- Year of manufacture, week of manufacture and/or serial manufacturing number
- Identification symbol of manufacturing company or vendor number and plant identifier, if any (if
more than one
manufacturing facility)
4.2.2.2. Structure
The font size or overall dimensions of the identification depend on the component part.
Make certain that the identification is readable clearly and unambiguously.
Size of identification area: at least 40 mm x 30 mm (width x height)
1st line:
1st to 7th digit
(mandatory) 8th to 9th digit
2nd line:
(optional)
Material number (e.g. 2034681)
Revision status (e.g. 04 for 4th change/revision status)
1st and 2nd digit: Week of manufacture (e.g. 02 for calendar week 2 ect.)
3rd and 4th digit: Manufacturer year (10 for 2010, 11 for 2011 ect.)
or multi-digit serial manufacturing number
3rd line:
Any number of digits:
(mandatory)
Example:
Vendor/supplier number (e.g. 78634)
203468104
1002
78634

Readable nameplate information should also be applied in a machine-readable form.
The code to be used is a data matrix.
The following nomenclature applies to the content to be encoded:
• Distribute the content over several fields and separate each of them by a semicolon,
without any blank character.
• Assign the first four fields as follows:
1 Material number (e.g.: 12345678st)
2 Revision/Version (e.g.: 00st)
3 Vendor / supplier number (e.g.: 765421st)
4 serial number or the date of manufacture of a batch with reference to the component
(four- digit) (e.g.: 99823456st)
• No other content is provided for nor admissible at present.

Additional identification for new parts / revised parts
New parts and revised parts caused by modifications made by the manufacturer
(e.g., discontinuation, improvement) or by HAMM AG shall be subject to additional mandatory
identification.
For any initial delivery, these parts must be differentiated unequivocally from their predecessor
parts
(e.g., by a coloured label or a label indicating "NEW PART or REVISED PART").
If the label is attached directly to the goods, make certain that the label can be removed without
any tool and without leaving any residue.
