SCOPE
This specification covers the requirements for the supply of the cathodic protection terminal block
assembly.

DEFINITIONS
Stamped: means "Reviewed. Permission to Construct Granted," has been stamped on the drawings by
the Owner.

SUBMISSION AND DESIGN REQUIREMENTS

Submissions
2320.04.01.01
Submission of Shop Drawings
Four copies of the shop drawings containing at least the following information shall be submitted to the
purchaser on request:
a. dimensioned layout drawings including sections and details for enclosure, equipment layout and
mounting arrangement;
b. detailed bill of materials, including their source;
c. wiring diagrams;
d. equipment name plates and manufacturer's labels when available;
e. weight.
Shop drawings submitted for review will be returned either "stamped", if acceptable or marked with
required changes. One copy of drawings will be returned to the supplier when changes are required and
also when "stamped".
The above submission procedure shall be repeated if changes are required.
Materials and dimensions shown on the "stamped" shop drawings shall not be changed.

Notification of Production
The purchaser shall be given at least one week prior notice of the date of commencement of fabrication of
the assembly and the date of completion.

Design Requirements
The design shall be according to CSA C22.2 No. 158 and as specified.
The rail shall be designed to accommodate two terminal block zone assemblies.

MATERIALS
2320.05.01
Cathodic Protection Terminal Block Assembly
The cathodic protection terminal block assembly, including fasteners, shall be manufactured from non
corrosive materials such that exposure to moisture will not impair the effectiveness of the assembly. The
assembly shall be mounted on a DIN rail according to the requirements for mounting on an OTSCES 19
rack.
The assembly shall be inspected and approved by an organization accredited by the Standard Council of
Canada or an organization otherwise approved to Canadian Standards by Ontario Hydro. Their label of
approval shall be issued prior to the unit being shipped.
Each terminal block zone assembly shall have 20 terminal points as identified in Table 1.

Each terminal point shall be capable of accommodating all wire sizes from #6 to #14.
Terminals 1 to 5 shall be connected with a jumper.
Terminals 6 and 7 shall be connected with a jumper.
The assembly shall be equipped with a simple 15 ampere on/off switch, single pole, double throw switch
manufactured according to CSA C22.2 No. 5.1 to provide a secondary manual interrupt for the rectifier.
Electrical materials shall be according to CSA C22.2 No. 158.
Extra low voltage cable shall be according to CSA C22.2 No. 38 and shall be at least 19 strand type RWU
cross link, -40°C.

Marking
The marking shall be weather resistant placed on a corrosion resistant metal plate.

PRODUCTION
2320.07.01
General
The assembly shall be manufactured and wired according to the details specified and the referenced
specifications.

Marking
Each completed assembly shall have identification marking showing the manufacturer's name or trade
mark, the OPSS specification number OPSS 2320 and the date of manufacture, permanently attached
with adhesive to the assembly, in a highly visible location.

Packaging and Shipping
The equipment completely factory assembled, wired and tested for continuity shall have suitable
protection provided for shipping and handling.
The purchaser shall be provided with notice of intent to deliver three days prior to the shipping date.
2320.08
QUALITY ASSURANCE
All work is subject to an inspection by the purchaser's representative prior to shipment.
The purchaser's representative shall have free access to the place of manufacture of the assembly while
work on the unit is being performed for the purpose of inspecting the work and examining plant records
and certificates, materials being used, process of fabrication and to make any tests as may be considered
necessary.

OWNER PURCHASE OF MATERIAL
2320.09.01
Basis of Payment
Payment at the price specified in the purchasing order for each Cathodic Protection Terminal Block
Assembly shall be full compensation for the supply and delivery of the assemblies to the destinations and
at the times specified.
The cost of all testing, except that performed in the Owner's laboratory shall be included in the price.
