INTRODUCTION
These weighing instruments are designated the FJ3, GJW, HJW or HJP Hanging
Scales. There are designed to be used as a Class III Non-Automatic Weighing
Instrument. The Hanging Scale are self-indicating, mains or battery-powered, and
can operate as a single or multi range (HJP and HJW) weighing instrument.
The indicator consists of an analogue to digital conversion circuitry, microprocessor
control circuitry, power supply, function keypad, non-volatile memory for storage of
calibration and setup data, and a weight display contained within a single enclosure.

Load cells
2.2.1
Any load cells may be used provided the following conditions are met:
−
there is a respective OIML Certificate of Conformity (R60) or a EC Test
Certificate (EN 45501) issued for the load cell by a Notified Body
responsible for type examination under Directive 2009/23/EEC;
−
the certificate contains the load cell types and the necessary load cell
data required for the manufacturer’s declaration of compatibility of
modules (WELMEC 2, Issue 5, 2009, No. 11), and any particular
installation requirements. A load cell marked NH is allowed only if
humidity testing to EN 45501 has been conducted on this load cell;
−
the compatibility of load cell and indicator is established by the
manufacturer by means of the compatibility of modules form, contained
in the above WELMEC 2 document, at the time of EC verification or
declaration of EC conformity of type; and
−
the load transmission must conform to one of the examples shown in
the WELMEC 2.4 “Guide for load cells”.
2.3
Operation
2.3.1
Switch-on
At switch-on, the instrument performs a self-test during which all the relevant
segments of the display are lit. The instrument attempts to set zero provided that it
is within a range not exceeding 20 % of its capacity.
2.3.2
Semi-automatic zero setting
The zero button operates provided that the instrument is within a range not
exceeding 4 % of its capacity.
2.3.3
Over- and under-range
If the load is less than zero, then the weight indications show an error “E2”. The load
may be shown up to a maximum of nine divisions above Max, above which the
weight indications are inhibited and replaced by “E1”.
2.3.4
Tare
Subtractive tare balancing can be performed.

Power supply
The Hanging Scales are mains or battery-powered. A mains adaptor supplies 6 V
DC to the Hanging Scales, any CE-marked adaptor may be used. The battery may
be a 6 V DC 7 or 10 AH rechargeable battery. If the battery or supply voltage is too
low, the display will show a battery symbol.

PERIPHERAL DEVICES AND INTERFACES
There are no interface ports, and therefore no peripheral devices can be connected.
4.3
Remote operation
The instrument may be operated remotely from an internally wired remote control
unit (HJW model) or via a non-wired remote control unit (GJW, FJ3, HJP model).
5
APPROVAL CONDITIONS
The certificate is issued subject to the following conditions:

LOCATION OF SEALS AND VERIFICATION MARKS
6.1
The rating plate (Figure 5) is located at the back of the instrument. The
CE mark shall be impossible to remove without damaging it. The rating plate shall be
impossible to remove without it being destroyed.
The markings and inscriptions shall fulfil the requirements of Paragraph 1 of
