Welcome message by the Congress President
Dear colleagues,
It is my greatest pleasure to welcome you on behalf of
the organizing committee to the 11th International Congress
of the Romanian Plastic Surgeons, with the participation of the
Hungarian Association for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic
Surgery. It is our third joint International Congress and we
hope this would be under the auspices of a long term fruitful
collaboration with our fellows in plastic surgery from Hungary
Our aim was to create with this meeting a suitable place
where well known specialists can share their exceptional experience and make
possible a benefice exchange of opinions. The congress scientific program includes
sessions of high scientific content, innovative and interesting topics, stimulating
discussions. Our special guests will have the oportunity to present to the romanian
and hungarian palstic surgery community various aspects regarding the borders of
the specialty and the interdisciplinary approaches for the access to technology and
research.
The societies of the Romanian Association of Plastic Surgeons (ROAPS),
the Plastic Reconstructive Society, the Hand Surgery Society, the Burns Society, the
Reconstructive Microsurgery Society and the Aesthetic Surgery Society joined their
efforts with the Hungarian Association for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic
Surgery to provide the background necessary for an experience exchange in the
traditional fields of our specialty.
The present meeting is also a good opportunity to establish new professional
contacts and friendships among specialists from different countries.
We look forward to welcome you in Bucharest, Romania and we hope that
you will gather nice memmories both scientifically and socially. Especially for the
foreign guests, Bucharest, the host of our congress, waits for you to make you a
pleasant journey in Romania.
Professor Ioan Lascar MD, PhD, FICS

Tours and travel
A Transylvania Tour to Stir the Blood
Quickly gaining a reputation as the most picturesque and diverse country in Eastern
Europe, Romania has ample treasures to please nature lovers, history buffs and
culture vultures alike.
From its breathtaking Carpathian mountain range to its exquisitely preserved
medieval towns, Romania is full of visual and sensual wonders. Students of history
will find here an unusual confluence of East and West, tradition and lore.
Transylvania, a focal point of any Romanian visit, is a mountainous region populated
with medieval castles, fortified churches, quaint villages and plenty of Dracularelated legends.
Led by a local certified English-speaking guide, the tour starts in the Romanian
capital city of Bucharest. From there, participants are driven to the northern
mountain city of Sinaia, the 19th-century summer residence of the royal family,
where they can visit Peles Castle, the final resting place of several Romanian
monarchs.
The itinerary's highlights include visits to the 14th-century town of Sighisoara and
the birthplace of Vlad Tepes -- more notoriously known as Vlad the Impaler or
Count Dracula -- and to the famous Castle Bran, often referred to as "Dracula's
Castle."
47
39
The itinerary includes several scenic hikes, lasting anywhere from four to six hours.
This trip requires a moderate level of hiking ability -- somewhere between a
leisurely stroll in the park and intense mountain climbing.
Travelers are free to take in sites on their own -- at their own pace -- but there's
always a Pure Adventures staff person available to help with any needs. The tour
includes seven nights' accommodations in charming country inns, all meals, services
of a local certified English-speaking guide and all transfers listed in the tour material.
The Transylvania hiking tour is available on set departure dates from May through
October.

Mogo[oaia Palace and }ig`ne[ti Monastery.
Mogo[oaia Palace was built by Wallachian Prince Brâncoveanu, between 1698 and
1702, as a summer residence for his family and an inheritance for his son Stefan. It
is considered to be among the country’s finest examples of Brâncoveanu
architecture. Built within a large court and surrounded by a lake and oak forests,
the Palace’s main feature is a traditional balcony that winds around the front façade.

Established in 1780, the main church was built in 1812 by the boyar Radu Golescu. It
is famous for its workshop where the nuns make artistical embroideries used to

museum.
Village museum
Sightseeing tour of Bucharest, with stops at the Village Museum.
Founded by royal decree in 1936, this fascinating outdoor museum, the largest in
Europe, covers some 30 acres on the shores of Lake Herastrau in Herestrau Park.
It features a collection of 50 buildings representing the history and design of
Romania’s rural architecture. Steep-roofed peasant homes, thatched barns, log
cabins, churches and watermills from all regions of the country were carefully taken
apart, shipped to the museum and rebuilt in order to recreate the village setting.
Throughout the year, the Village Museum hosts special events where you will have
a chance to witness folk artisans demonstrating traditional skills in weaving, pottery
and other crafts.
Folk arts and crafts are available at the museum gift shop. The tour includes the
