Earn Your Certificate or Degree
In the Computer Science program, you can pursue
a Certificate of Achievement or earn an Associate in
Science degree that allows you to transfer to a fouryear university to complete a bachelor’s degree.
Established in 1957, and located at the base of
California’s beautiful Mount Shasta, College of the
Siskiyous is an open-access, public institution
dedicated to providing excellence in education,
cultural enrichment and service to the community.

technology, and in athletics.

Degree in Computer Science
The COS Computer Science certificate programs
provide training in four important fields, giving you the
opportunity to target your career interests as well as
boost your current technology skills. Choose from
these valuable one-year certifications:
ASSOCIATE DEGREE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE
This two-year degree combines theory and practice
to teach computer usage, programming and
maintenance. Computer science professionals focus
on developing new technology rather than repairing
existing technology. Students are prepared for a
variety of career options, such as computer support
specialists, computer programmers, systems analysts
and network administrators.
CERTIFICATE IN PC NETWORKS,
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
Prepares students to install secure PC network
systems based on customer requirements, monitor
and maintain network traffic and security, and
maintain network hardware and software. Studies
include certifications in PC hardware and software,
computer networks and wireless communications.
CERTIFICATE IN WEB DESIGN
Prepares students for careers as professional website
designers, creating the look, layout and organization
of websites. The program focuses on visual design
fundamentals, software and web page coding in HTML
and CSS. Classes include web design, animation,
illustration, programming and publishing.
CERTIFICATE IN PROGRAMMING
Prepares students for careers as professional web
developers, developing functional aspects of websites
including database integration, programming and other
server-side components. Coursework teaches the
basics of computing, including programming
languages, operating systems, data structures and
computer organization and assembly language.
Ready to Shape the Future of Technology
COS Computer Science students can choose to
pursue a range of technology skills ― from
system networking and programming to software
and website development to computer games
and robotics design.
CERTIFICATE IN GAME DESIGN
Prepares students for careers as professional game
designers in the rapidly expanding industry of video
games, computer simulations and virtual reality.
Students learn the main concepts and skills needed
to design 3-D interactive games and applications for
entertainment, education and business. Coursework
focuses on computer expertise in design, graphics,
programming and testing. Includes completion of
design projects and game design documents for your
portfolio to show prospective employers.
Associate Degree Requirements
Our Computer Science associate degree gives you
the option to pursue your bachelor’s degree at a
four-year college. You’ll complete the major courses
required for the associate degree, plus our general
education requirements and electives.

Course Schedule
The Computer Science program offers one-year
certificates or a two-year associate degree
program. Course schedules vary and include
evening, weekend and online classes at our
Weed and Yreka campuses.
