Catalan Poetry
Poetry has been written in various forms of the Catalan
language (Catalan, Valencian, Balearic Catalan,
especially) for nearly six hundred years, covering
an area that stretches from Roussillon in southern
France, southwards to Alacant (Alicante) and beyond
in the Eastern seaboard of Spain and as far across the
Mediterranean as Alguer (Alghero) in Sardinia.
Poet in the City is a registered charity committed to
attracting new audiences to poetry, making new
connections for poetry, and raising money to support poetry
education, in particular the placing of poets in schools.
Charity Commission number 1117354.
Company limited by guarantee 05819413.
The Institut Ramon Llull exists
to promote Catalan language
and culture throughout the
world. The Institut, based in Barcelona and funded by the
Catalan government, funds teaching positions in Catalan
language in many Universities, and supports cultural
events involving Catalan culture.
