year’s program combines annual internal medicine and pharmacy
continuing education events into a single multi-track program to
offer clinical pearls, workshops, and current hot topics in a combined
interprofessional format.

30 - October 1, 2016 are $259 per night,

All participants are invited to attend an
optional lunch session each day to hear
first-hand how the practices of Medicine
and Pharmacy have changed over the last
50 years. Thursday’s session, “Changes
in Medicine: A Personal Reflection of 50
Years of Practice” will feature Richard
Phillis, MD. Friday’s session, “Changes
in Pharmacy: A Personal Reflection of 50
Years of Pharmacy Practice” will feature
Bob Osterhaus, RPh. Continuing education
credit will not be awarded for these informal
lunch sessions. Lunch is not included in the
registration fee. You may purchase a ticket
for a boxed lunch for $25 per day. You
must purchase lunch tickets by Friday,
September 23. Lunch tickets will not
be sold after this date and will not be
available for purchase the day of the
conference. If you choose to have lunch
on your own, you may dine at one of several
restaurants located near the Marriott.
SPECIAL EVENTS: HOMECOMING
The UI Homecoming Parade is Friday
evening, September 30, in downtown Iowa
City. The Iowa Hawkeye football team will
play against the Northwestern Wildcats at
Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, October 1,
at 11:00 am. A block of tickets is being
held for conference attendees and may be
purchased online though the University of
Iowa Athletic Ticket Office. Cost is $70 per
ticket plus a $3.00 processing fee per order
and $1.00 per ticket fee. Information on
how to order tickets will be sent with your
conference confirmation letter. All ticket
inquiries must be directed to the Athletic
Ticket Office at 1-800-IA-HAWKS. The
CME Division does not place ticket orders
and does not refund tickets.

The ACP Business Meeting and lunch will be
held Thursday at 12:15 pm at the Marriott.
Cost for lunch is $25. Brown Deer Golf Club,
1900 Country Club Drive in Coralville will
host the ACP Awards Reception and Early
Career Physicians Social on Thursday evening.
A shuttle is available from the Marriott.
These events will begin at 6:30 pm with
hors d’oeuvres and cash bar. Awards will
be presented at 7:00 pm. The Early Career
Physician Social is at 8:00 pm.
There is no registration fee for ACP medical
students, resident/fellow physicians to attend
this meeting. However, registration is

• Discuss the basic pathophysiology of various disease states including rheumatology, endocrinology, and hematology/oncology.
•Describe clinical pearls that aid in treatment and/or diagnosis of allergy/
immunology, palliative medicine, and pain management.
•Compare and contrast the safety and efficacy of treatment options available for various disease states.
•Develop an evidence-based treatment plan for various disease states based on recent clinical practice guidelines.
•Apply clinical reasoning skills and current treatment guidelines to a patient case.

While registration is open until the start
of the conference, we encourage early
registration to enable us to provide the
best possible service. All but $50 of the
fee is refundable if inability to attend is
made known on or before September 15,
2016. Refunds will not be made after this
date. A late fee of $75 will be added for all

ABIM MOC: Successful
completion of this
CME activity, which
includes participation in the evaluation
component, enables the participant to earn
up to 13.5 MOC points in the American
Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM)
Emphasizing the interprofessional team approach to patient care, this
year’s program combines annual internal medicine and pharmacy
continuing education events into a single multi-track program to
offer clinical pearls, workshops, and current hot topics in a combined
interprofessional format.
Maintenance of Certification (MOC)
program. Participants will earn MOC points
equivalent to the amount of CME credits
claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity
provider's responsibility to submit participant
completion information to ACCME for the
purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
Pharmacist: The Collaborative
Education Institute is accredited
by the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education as a provider of
continuing pharmacy education. Following
completion of the online activity exam and
evaluation (accessible at www.GoToCEI.
org via a CPE Access Code given at the end
of each activity), participants will be able to
access their CPE Statement of Credit on
CPE Monitor, www.MyCPEMonitor.net. Up
to 7.75 hrs./0.775 CEUs can be earned on
Thursday, September 29th and up to 5.75
hrs./0.575 CEUs on Friday, September 30th.

University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics
Department of Nursing (IBN Approved

HOUSING, PARKING,
EMERGENCY CONTACT
A limited number of rooms has been reserved
at the Marriott Coralville Hotel. Room rates
for September 28-29, 2016 are $129 per night,
excluding taxes. Room rates for September
30 - October 1, 2016 are $259 per night,
excluding taxes. Registrants are responsible
for making their own reservations and may
do so by contacting the Marriott Coralville
Hotel at (319) 688-4000. Please reference “UI
Progress in Internal Medicine” to receive the
special conference room rates. Rooms will be
held in reserve until September 7, 2016.
Parking is available in the city ramp adjacent
to the hotel at prevailing rates.
LUNCH (OPTIONAL)
All participants are invited to attend an
optional lunch session each day to hear
first-hand how the practices of Medicine
and Pharmacy have changed over the last
50 years. Thursday’s session, “Changes
in Medicine: A Personal Reflection of 50
Years of Practice” will feature Richard
Phillis, MD. Friday’s session, “Changes
in Pharmacy: A Personal Reflection of 50
Years of Pharmacy Practice” will feature
Bob Osterhaus, RPh. Continuing education
credit will not be awarded for these informal
lunch sessions. Lunch is not included in the
registration fee. You may purchase a ticket
for a boxed lunch for $25 per day. You
must purchase lunch tickets by Friday,
September 23. Lunch tickets will not
be sold after this date and will not be
available for purchase the day of the
conference. If you choose to have lunch
on your own, you may dine at one of several
restaurants located near the Marriott.
SPECIAL EVENTS: HOMECOMING
The UI Homecoming Parade is Friday
evening, September 30, in downtown Iowa
City. The Iowa Hawkeye football team will
play against the Northwestern Wildcats at
Kinnick Stadium on Saturday, October 1,
at 11:00 am. A block of tickets is being
held for conference attendees and may be
purchased online though the University of
Iowa Athletic Ticket Office. Cost is $70 per
ticket plus a $3.00 processing fee per order
and $1.00 per ticket fee. Information on
how to order tickets will be sent with your
conference confirmation letter. All ticket
inquiries must be directed to the Athletic
Ticket Office at 1-800-IA-HAWKS. The
CME Division does not place ticket orders
and does not refund tickets.
ACP
The ACP Business Meeting and lunch will be
held Thursday at 12:15 pm at the Marriott.
Cost for lunch is $25. Brown Deer Golf Club,
1900 Country Club Drive in Coralville will
host the ACP Awards Reception and Early
Career Physicians Social on Thursday evening.
A shuttle is available from the Marriott.
These events will begin at 6:30 pm with
hors d’oeuvres and cash bar. Awards will
be presented at 7:00 pm. The Early Career
Physician Social is at 8:00 pm.
There is no registration fee for ACP medical
students, resident/fellow physicians to attend
this meeting. However, registration is
required by contacting Denise Floerchinger
(denise-floerchinger@uiowa.edu). The deadline
for registration is September 15, 2016.
If you are an ACP medical student,
resident/fellow physician and require hotel
accommodations, a block of rooms is
reserved at The Marriott until September
7, 2016. Contact Denise Floerchinger
(denise-floerchinger@uiowa.edu) to make
your reservation. All rooms in the block are
equipped with two queen beds. The deadline
for reserving a room is September 7, 2016.
