UNCOLLEGE GAP YEAR
Preparing for August 2016
As you and your family prepare for the August 2016 cohort, remember these important next steps.
SUBMITTING YOUR DEPOSIT
You can secure your spot in the program by submitting your initial program deposit of $250 using
these instructions. The deposit indicates your intent to enroll and is your first payment toward the
program fee. Seats in the cohort are assigned on a space available basis; when capacity is reached,
a wait list is formed.
VOYAGE PLANNING
After you submit the initial deposit of $250, our Voyage director Veronica Wong will reach out to you
by email to set up time for a phone call to complete the Voyage planning process.
ENROLLMENT FORMS
Please take the time to submit these forms:
Gap Year Program Contract
Health Form
Goal Completion Advisory
.
.
You can submit them entirely online. These forms must be submitted before final registration for
your Voyage phase can be made.
IMPORTANT DATES
• Voyage phase starts July 31. Fellows fly directly to their Voyage destination to start the
program. After working with our Voyage director to plan your Voyage destination, you’ll make
your flight arrangements to arrive in-country on this date. Orientation will take place via
Google Hangout prior to departure and again upon arrival. Voyage ends October 7.
• Launch phase starts with a mandatory orientation at 5pm on October 7 in San Francisco.
Fellows typically make their flight plans to return directly from their Voyage location to arrive
in San Francisco on this date. There is a holiday break after Launch concludes December 16.
• Internship phase starts in January (the date varies depending on the individual fellow's
agreement with the internship provider).
• The Gap Year program concludes when one-on-one coaching wraps up approximately the
end of April 2017.

PAYMENT
We’ll work with you as you make plans to fund your Gap Year. Firm, final payment arrangements
must be in place no later than 30 days prior to the start of the program (July 1).
You can login at info.uncollege.org/payment to submit payment. International fellows using a nonU.S. account can also submit payment via our web site, or if they prefer they may utilize these
instructions for the electronic transfer of funds.
If you have any questions pertaining to payment, please contact Cody Hartley at
cody@uncollege.org, especially if you’d like to finance your tuition balance using a payment plan.

Some fellows preferring to spread their Gap Year costs over time may want to explore securing
funding through one of these third-party financial organizations. (AVAILABLE TO U.S. CITIZENS ONLY)

• Parents can apply for financing with SoFi as well: https://www.sofi.com/parent-loan/

FELLOW HANDBOOK
Please read the Fellow Handbook thoroughly. The entire contents are important, and it is imperative
that you be familiar with the information. We especially want to draw your attention to the
Enrollment Forms, Community section, and the Goal Completion Acknowledgement.
PRE-READING
We’d like you to get a head start on the concepts we’ll be focusing on during the program by reading
“So Good They Can’t Ignore You” by Cal Newport and “The Startup of You” by Reid Hoffman.
