• Integrated approach using the expertise of Public Health Commissioners to review and update
service specifications.
• Engagement with local LMC and LPC to stimulate market interest from their membership.
• Development of market engagement sessions across GP and pharmacies serving the City of Derby.
• Support to bidders who were unfamiliar with e-procurement systems and public sector procurement
• Development of an open tendering process.
• Strong specifications with clear outcomes.
• Simple evaluation process to determine successful bidders showing a clear and robust approach.
Outcomes
• A strong market of providers across the GP and pharmacy community within the City of Derby.
• Robust contractual terms with providers including reporting on KPIs.
• Meeting budgetary reductions without effecting service delivery.
• 95% market engagement across Derby City GPs and pharmacies.
• Three year contracts let to the combined value of £1.5m.
