ASSOCIATE/SENIOR ASSOCIATE
Chicago Office
POSITION SUMMARY
Working out of our office in Chicago, Illinois, the associate or senior associate will work
with MG clients and the MG team to research, develop, implement, and evaluate
strategies to advance positive, sustainable social change on a wide range of issues.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
• Serving as project manager and client contact on selected accounts,
including budget management
• Writing copy including reports, letters, press releases, brochures, training
materials, web content, grants, and other communications materials
• Developing and implementing strategic communication (public relations,
marketing, etc.) plans
• Working with media, including developing lists, preparing materials,
identifying opportunities, pitching stories, and providing client media
training
• Providing research, including sourcing information, market assessments,
developing and implementing online surveys (e.g., Survey Monkey),
supporting qualitative focus groups and conducting interviews
• Analyzing data and information to synthesize findings and develop
recommendations; drafting research reports
• Providing resource development support, including sponsor proposals
and outreach, and grant writing
• Coordinating events
• Participating in new business development efforts and outreach;
marketing Metropolitan Group services, including preparation and
presentation of proposals, statements of qualifications, marketing
meetings, etc.
• Serving as a member of the Metropolitan Group creative team, providing
ideas, input, and implementation
• Serving as a member of the MG team, providing assistance with
miscellaneous projects, creative brainstorming, internal projects, and
other duties necessary for the success of the organization
• Meeting an annual billable goal of 1,600 hours
REQUIREMENTS
• Associate: Relevant degree and work/internship experience
• Senior Associate: 3-5+ years of experience in communication agency or
internal communications position
• Possess excellent writing and communication skills
• Demonstrated public relations experience
• Demonstrated project management experience

Available to travel, as needed
Bi-Lingual or fluency in other language(s) is preferred but not required

HOURS
Professional workload of 40 hours per week, as well as any additional time necessary
dependent on client deadlines and internal projects.
OFFICE HOURS
8:00 am to 5:00 pm., Monday-Friday
COMPENSATION
Negotiable depending on experience, and commensurate with company salary
structure.
BENEFITS
• Employer-paid medical/vision insurance first of the month following
employment.
• Dental insurance paid at 50 percent by employer on first of month following
employment.
• Life and long-term disability insurance plans available first of month following
employment.
• Ten paid vacation days per year after first 90 days of employment and one
additional day per year accrued up to a total of 15 days, plus one spiritual day of
your choice.
• Five days sick leave available per year, accruable up to 20 days.
• MG paid holidays off: New Year’s Day, MLK Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial
Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, day after Thanksgiving,
and Christmas.
• Transportation allowance paid by employer.
• MG to reimburse for work related expenses (mileage at IRS rate).
• 401k retirement plan. You are eligible to participate in this program on the first
calendar quarter after six-months of full-time employment. As a participant you
may make tax-deferred contributions up to the maximum allowable amount into
the plan. MG will contribute three percent of your compensation while a
participant in the plan annually.
• One month (30 days) paid sabbatical eligibility after each seven years of
continuous employment.

Charitable contribution-match up to $100 per year.
Incentive and bonus plan.
REVIEWS
After 90-day trial period, annual formal review, periodic/informal reviews and
“check-ins” as needed or requested by either party.
DRESS
Business casual on most days; professional office attire, when appropriate.
