Reclosers are visually inspected on a yearly basis. Depending on the type of recloser and
control, batteries are replaced if needed. Reclosers are maintained on either a six- or eightyear cycle depending on the type of interrupter, oil or vacuum. Counter readings are
recorded when reclosers are installed and when they are inspected. Counter reading
registers are located near the top of the recloser tank making them often difficult or
impossible to read from the ground.
