In 2015, Thailand had a great opportunity to hold the first SB event in Bangkok and received

Co-Creating City ‘Bangkachao’ (Exclusive Session)
Rated "The Best Urban Oasis of Asia" by TIME Magazine, Bangkachao is the conservative 3,089
square kilometers of lush greenery known as the green lung of Bangkok. It has been a
river-living village for many decades and now urbanisation and globalisation are moving closer
and closer to it. Bangkachao has now become one of the most attractive eco-tourist destinations
among Bangkokians. The challenge is how to balance growth with sustainability.
This special session is hosted by Tourism Authority of Thailand and moderated by Arsom Silp
Institute of the Arts, one of the most renowned and respectable architecture. One of the world
recognised projects of Arsom Silp Institute of the Arts is ‘Chantaboon River Community’ which is
awarded by UNESCO Asia Pacific Heritage Award, “Award of Merit.”
Participants will visit Bangkachao with local guide, learn about the local living, listen to their
needs and concerns, and then gather in an interactive workshop moderated by Arsom Silp
Institute of the Arts to come up with the right purpose for Bangkachao. Outcome of the workshop
will be presented and submit to the government as recommendation for the sustainability of
Bangkachao.
This workshop is limited to 40 participants only. Preregistration is required.
