CARE TRANSPORTATION
PROVIDES ONE-STOP RESOURCE
T
ime and time again, Dale Victor
would hear the frustrations of
individuals struggling to find a ride
to a doctor’s appointment, a social event or
work. Sometimes they lived in rural areas
often untouched by a regular transportation
system. Other times, they had special needs
and required a handicap accessible van and
oxygen.
As owner of Care Transportation, he knew
seats sat empty every day along Minnesota
roadways.
Focused on
increasing access
to those seats,
Victor started
a free referral
service. The name
of the service

Transportation
Ride Network,
Inc. a non-profit
corporation also
referred to RideNet.
RideNet leverages the
state’s existing public,
non-profit and private
transportation resources
by getting organizations
working together.
RideNet is operated as
a public service by Care
Transportation. On a day to day basis, RideNet
answers questions, finds rides, advocates
for the consumer and coordinates with other
agencies.
There are hundreds of services available
on the federal, state and local levels, it’s a
service that government agencies and state
transportation officials have deemed essential
to greater economic independence, healthy
living and an improved quality of life. However,
people may be unaware of how to access the
programs. “Now, it just takes one phone call
or click of the mouse for people to get the ride
they need,” Victor said.
CT RideNet primarily helps riders find
transportation
to medical
appointments, but
rides to work are
a rapidly growing
segment of the
referral service. “We
combine the power
of coordination and
innovation to fill the
gaps and serve as
a voice for people,”
Victor said.

That innovation can
be seen in Care

purchase program that
allows individuals to buy
an affordable car with a
warranty and offset the
cost by providing rides

The RideNet program is a self-sustaining
program and does not solicit or accept
grants. The RideNet mission is supported
by Government and business contracts,
advertising and partnerships.

Through the drive-to-own program, individuals
put money down to receive a vehicle and
make payments every two weeks. They have
the option to earn income by providing rides
to other local residents during their free time.
“They are providing rides that no one else will
provide,” Victor said.
