APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

CLEAR CLADDING - WATERPROOFING SEALANT

01 APPLICATION CONSIDERATIONS

Clear Cladding has tremendous penetrating characteristics, even on contaminated surfaces, because the active waterproofing ingredient is dispersed in a solvented carrier of low surface tension. This is one of the reasons it penetrates and waterproofs so well as compared to water based and silicone formulations.

The working life is ten years. Because of the solvent contained in Clear Cladding, it is generally recommended for outdoor use. If it is to be used indoors, special consideration should be taken using good ventilation practices.

02 SURFACE PREPARATION

Generally, it is not necessary to pressure wash before applying Clear Cladding, unless the surface is exceptionally dirty or contaminated. Surfaces to be treated should be clean and dry as possible to assist in maximum penetration of the Clear Cladding compound. Normally sweep or blow off the surface with a leaf blower. Small amounts of dust on the surface will not interfere with Clear

Cladding’s penetrating characteristics.

Before applying Clear Cladding, it must be taken into consideration that recent weather conditions or power washing might have saturated the surface substrate with excessive moisture. This could interfere with the absorption of Clear Cladding if this surface is exceptionally damp or wet. Allow sufficient time to let the top surface ( ¼” ) dry out before applying Clear Cladding. This has a lot to do with the intended application being in the shade or sun AND the temperature and humidity.

PRESSURE WASHING

Contaminated surfaces should be pressure washed to remove leached mineral or salt deposits, stains, efflorescence, mold and mildew growth. Fungicidal agents should be used to prevent reoccurrence in damp locations. Clear Cladding goes a long way in preventing this reoccurrence because the surface will retain very little moisture after treatment. A characteristic inhibiting the re-growth of algae, mold, mildew, etc.

Pressure washing forces water deeply into surface. Extra drying time may be needed prior to applying

Clear Cladding. Just because the surface looks dry, considerable moisture can be present at 1/8” to ¼” depth in the concrete which is right where Clear Cladding must be absorbed. Allow at least 24 hours or more drying time before applying Clear Cladding. Again, this has a lot to do with the intended application being in the shade or sun and considering summer and fall temperatures and relative humidly.

03 CLEAR CLADDING APPLICATION

Clear Cladding is a combustible liquid so smoking is prohibited. Using near equipment that might produce sparks should be of concern if adequate ventilation in not present. Highly concentrated vapors should be avoided using copious amounts of ventilation. continued on reverse

SPRAYING AROUND VEGETATION

Take care to keep away from plants or lawns because the mineral spirits contained in Clear Cladding will kill vegetation. Use a piece of cardboard or plywood to act as a mask or shield when spraying

Clear Cladding close to vegetation, or drape with cloth or plastic cover sheets.

APPLICATION TECHNIQUES

On vertical surfaces CLEAR CLADDING should be "flooded" on in sufficient quantities to result in a run down of approximately 6”. On vertical walls, work from top down. This ensures complete coverage and penetration. Since CLEAR CLADDING dries out to be completely invisible, if there is to be any interruption to the work schedule, care should be taken to mark the area of treatment so no misses arise when subsequent continuation of the application commences.

A. Garden sprayer or contractor type pump up sprayers work fine.

B. Any conventional airless-spray or pressure pot set-up is suitable. Clear Cladding

will not set up and clog equipment and usually can be left in equipment for several

days with no problems.

Soft Brick/Mortar 110 square feet

Natural Stone 195 square feet

04 DRYING TIMES

Dependent on the porosity of the treated surface and ambient temperature on an average the coating will initially dry in less than 1 hour. After 12 hours, the system will be highly water repellent to driving rain. After 12 days maximum water repellency is obtained.

OVER-PAINTING: Over-painting can be carried out 12 days after the last Clear Cladding was applied.

Clear Cladding needs this time to fully cure.

05 CLEAN UP

A.

Clean up application equipment such as spraying equipment and related tools with most any solvent such as denatured alcohol, mineral spirits, lacquer thinner, MEK, etc.

B.

Will not etch glass. Clean up glass with detergent solution, denatured alcohol, MEK, whichever

works best. Clean up overspray as soon as possible as it will be more difficult to remove later on.

06 STORAGE

Always reseal the can immediately after use. If CLEAR CLADDING is stored at temperatures below

40˚F, the material may become cloudy or gelatinous. If this occurs, simply allow the product to warm up and agitate the container until the contents are homogeneous. Storing between 40˚F and 100˚F should allow a usable storage life of 4 years.
