BIG 3 – SCHWARZE SCHNEIDE (3,340 m)
BIG 3 - TIEFENBACHKOGL (3,250 m)
BIG 3 - GAISLACHKOGL (3,048 m)
The natural viewing platform can be reached within
a 15-minute uphill walk (altitude gain: 90 m). The
vantage point is located right above the Schwarze
Schneid (3,250 m) top terminal. Stunning 360°
views up to 100km are waiting for you.
Next to Tiefenbach gondola‘s top terminal (3,249m)
you find a breathtaking footbridge towering high
above the valley and the ice fields with the wonderful
Wildspitze (3,776m) - Tirol‘s highest mountain peak as lovely backdrop.
The BIG3 viewing platform is located on the rooftop
terrace of the newly built restaurant at Gaislachkogl
(3,048 m). It is accessible from the mountain peak
via a suspension bridge.

SÖLDEN 2015/16
Thanks to its high-altitude and wide open location the Sölden ski area offers a myriad of slopes and ski runs. The 15 km long ski trail leading from the BIG3
viewing platform at Schwarze Schneide (3,340 m) down to Gaislachkogl base terminal (1,370 m) ranks among the longest downhill ski runs. The difference
in altitude of almost 2,000 meters makes this route a unique highlight in all of Austria.
The following overview provides you with details on the steepest slopes and the longest ski runs featuring the biggest altitude gains within the ski area:
Mittelberg
Ferner
SKI HUTS
By entering your skipass number, the Skiline altimeter graph provides you
with all the necessary information about your daily altitude meters, altitude
gain, number of ski lifts used and slope kilometers. Check your personal
graph online at soelden.com/skiline or print it out at one of the Skiline terminals at the base stations down in the valley.
The BIG 3 Rally is a unique way to explore the entire ski area. You start at the Giggijochbahn base terminal: the route leads from Giggijoch via Rettenbach Glacier
to the first BIG3 experience at Schwarze Schneide (3,340 m), further on to Tiefenbach Glacier and the second BIG3 peak, Tiefenbachkogl (3,250 m). From Tiefenbach
Glacier you return to Rettenbach Glacier and then to the base terminal of Gaislachkoglbahn which takes you on top of the third BIG3 summit, Gaislachkogl (3,048
m). Conquering three mountain peaks higher than 3,000 meters, enjoying three 360° panoramas, skiing some 50 km in only one day makes a truly outstanding
experience which can be rarely found in all Europe. Expert skiers and snowboarders can do the BIG3 Rally in approximately 4 hours.

THE ÖTZTAL GLACIER ROAD
Always pay attention to the information boards and trail maps. Do not leave the
marked ski runs. Alpine hazards. FIS rules apply.
With the exception of the officially signposted and floodlit night skiing slopes,
all ski runs are closed between 05.00 pm and 08.00 am! During the evening
and night hours the slopes are closed due to snow-grooming and maintenance
works. The snow-making systems are in operation as well. There is a great risk
of injury due to grooves, furrows, cable winches and snow-gun tubes.
The GLACIER TOLL ROAD is one of the highest trails in the Eastern Alps. The 15
km long road leads from the village center of Sölden to the ski areas of Rettenbach glacier (2,675m) and Tiefenbach glacier (2,800m). The 1.7 km long glacier
tunnel at an altitude of 2,800 meters above sea level – the highest road tunnel in
the Alps – links the two ski areas. Both road and tunnel feature two lanes. Therefore the glacier can also be easily reached with coaches and buses. The average
gradient is about 11%. You are strongly advised to take snow chains with you
during the autumn months. Please bear in mind that the road will only remain
open if the drivers are not in danger (avalanche hazard). Therefore the road can
be closed from time to time.
The glacier road will be closed as soon as the winter ski area and the connecting
glacier ski lifts will be opened (during the winter months). Please keep informed
about the latest road conditions.

The Sölden Slope Rescue Card is available at the ski area’s ticket offices and
only in conjunction with a valid ski pass. The Rescue Card does not have to be
bought together with the ski pass, but it must have been purchased before the
insured event occurred. The Slope Rescue Card’s validity corresponds with the
validity of the ski pass and cannot be prolonged.
Slope rescue card
€ 13.00 per person
The Slope Rescue Card includes the rescue service and first aid at no
charge for injured persons within the entire secured Sölden Ski Area
(Gaislachkogl, Giggijoch/Hochsölden and Glacier Ski Areas) as well as
the transport of the rescued person depending on the injury’s gravity
– either by Akja sled, ski doo or rescue bubble – to the Red Cross or
rescue helicopter.
Costs arising from an alpine rescue operation by an Austrian rescue
helicopter are covered by the Slope Rescue Card subsidiarily and only
in case if the rescued person has no other valid rescue insurance which
refunds the slope rescue costs.
PLEASE NOTE: Costs arising from ambulance transports made by the
Austrian Red Cross are not included and must be paid separately.
Those who don‘t have a valid slope rescue card have to pay the costs for first
aid, rescue and transport themselves. Contact the ski pass offices for more
detailed information.
