12. ERASERS

The erasers are used for dry cleaning. The nature of the
eraser (vinyl or natural rubber, hard or soft, etc.) and the
strength of the pressure exerted on the paper are essential elements to be taken into consideration when
adapting the gumming depending on the type of paper, its
surface condition and the type of marks to be removed.
This is why it is useful to have a number of gums to obtain maximum effectiveness whilst minimising the risk of
abrasion. We recommend carrying out a test beforehand
to check the effect of the eraser on the paper preferably
using a magnifier.
