Beginning March 12th, residents will
have the opportunity to recycle from the
convenience of your homes.
Why should I recycle?
• Your recyclables will be sold, generating
revenue.
• Recycling materials into new products
reduces energy consumption, preserves
natural resources, and reduces our
dependence on foreign oil.
• Recycling results in less garbage going to
the landfill.
Do I have to recycle?
• No, but recycling is strongly encouraged
as it is best for the environment and the
City of Clinton.
Will it cost me?
• The City will not charge residents a fee for
recycling.
• The City will provide each resident, at
no charge, one new 96-gallon recycling
cart with a lid to keep material dry and
prevent litter. This cart remains the
property of the City of Clinton.
When can I start using my
recycling cart?
• You may begin placing items in your cart
as soon as your receive it, however, do not
place your recycling cart at the curb until
your scheduled collection date on or after
March 12th.
• Any changes to this schedule will be
posted on the City’s website at
www.cityofclintonnc.us.

How do I place my cart for
service?
• Household recycling is offered curbside
only.
• On your scheduled pickup day, place your
cart curbside but not in the street.
• Place your cart at the edge of the street
with the handle facing your house – so it
opens street side.
• Place each cart 3 feet apart, and 3 feet
away from parked cars, mailboxes, fire
hydrants, etc., so that it can be reached by
the automated side-loading truck.
• Do not block the road, sidewalks or
driveways with your cart.
How does my recycling collection
differ from garbage collection?
• Household recycling is offered curbside
only.
• Place recyclable material loosely in your
cart: DO NOT BAG any material EXCEPT
shredded paper (in clear bags).
• Place your cart at the edge of the street
with the HANDLE FACING YOUR
HOUSE—so it opens street side—
enabling automated collection.
