Role Title: Head of Operations (Pilots / Main Programme)
Salary: £55K - £70K
Reports to: Managing Director, Main Programme
Direct Reports: Operations Project Manager
Location: Based at Genomics England London offices,
with travel within England as required
Dates: Fixed Term – End 2017
Summary of the Role’s Main Purpose:
Key Responsibilities Operational delivery of samples for whole genome sequencing, via expert oversight of NHS England
and Genomics Medicine centres and direct delivery of ad-hoc projects, to make sure that sequencing is
done to time and to high quality.
In partnership with the NHS England Integration Manager, ensure that GEL monitors, works with and
supports NHS England and the Genomic Medicine Centres as necessary to deliver samples for whole
genome sequencing. Contribute to external operational collaborations for example with NHS England
and with Genomic Medicine Centres.
Set up and management of new sample acquisition projects in addition to the core NHS England
agreement
Collaboration with stakeholders across Gel, particularly Science and Informatics teams
Recruitment & management of Project Managers for any additional non-NHSE sample activities.

role purpose and profile may change depending on the needs of the programme but levels of
responsibility and challenge will not).

Experience working to GxP ideally ICH GCP
Proven line management experience is essential
Good understanding of information governance and clinical informatics
Demonstrated knowledge of project start-up, hospital site management, project administration
and other relevant clinical operations processes
Operational experience in UK healthcare environment essential
Experience in project management & project delivery is essential
Experience in genomic science, cancer, rare diseases preferred
Experience in consent, sample acquisition, sample handling and DNA extraction preferred.
