Description
The Lorain® HSB24HCAB modular DC-DC converters utilize high frequency technology for
compact, reliable ±130 VDC from -48 VDC power. The modular design makes the HSB
extremely flexible. Eight amp plug-in modules can be used to increase capacity from 8 amps
(one module) to 24 amps (three modules) without taking the unit off line and with no
additional wiring or fusing. Cabinets equipped with two modules can also be wired for
independent operation with one performing at +130 volt and the other at -130 volt.
Applications where power growth requirements are anticipated can install empty cabinets
that are ready for additional DC-DC converter plug-in modules. These compact units fit
23" (58.42cm) relay racks and require less than 7" (17.78cm) of vertical space.

130 VDC. Flexible design allows for operation in switch site or hostile environment.

Circuit Protection: A DC input circuit breaker in each
converter module open the negative input lead.

module.

Protection
Short Circuit: A 15 amp fuse is located on the output lead of
each converter module.
Current Limit: Output current is limited to a preset
(adjustable) value. Factory set at 110% of full load.
High Voltage Shutdown — If the rectifier module voltage
exceeds a preset value, the module will shutdown. Unless
specified otherwise, the factory adjusted value is 150.0 ±0.5
volts.
Status/Alarm Indicators — AC-On LED; Fan-Failure LED;
Converter-Fail LED.
