Motorcycle Rider
Motorcycle Rider: Basic (BRC)
Do you want to learn how to ride a motorcycle? This course is
designed for beginner or new riders who are interested in
learning to ride skillfully and safely. A good sense of balance is
required (must have recent bicycle experience). Approximately
70% of the course is on-cycle instruction. Motorcycles are
supplied for this course, and loaner helmets are provided if
student does not possess a helmet. Half or “shorty” helmets are
not allowed as they may put the user at unnecessary additional
risk. A pen or pencil and a highlighter are also required. You
will learn everything from mounting to maximum braking and
swerving. Upon successful completion of the course, the riding
and written portion of the Colorado motorcycle endorsement
test may be waived. Minor licensing: individuals under the age
of 18 must hold an instructional permit for one year prior to
obtaining the full endorsement; a parent or adult guardian
must appear at class to sign a liability waiver before a minor
student will be allowed to ride. Many insurance companies
offer a discount to graduates of this course. The Motorcycle
Safety Foundation and Colorado Department of Transportation
certify this course. Refunds may be made to those who withdraw 48 hours prior to the first class session. There will be a $5
processing fee for withdrawals. Rain dates will be announced
by the instructor. Please plan to arrive 15 minutes early for
each class session. Maximum of 12 participants per section.
Prerequisites: Valid driver’s license or permit. You MUST present
your driver’s license the first day of class. This course is designed
for beginner or new riders who are interested in learning to ride
skillfully and safely. Required equipment and clothing: You must
provide eye protection, over-the-ankle (non-canvas) footwear,
full fingered gloves, long pants and long sleeves.

I took the Basic Rider Course at Front Range
Community College. I have only ridden on a
motorcycle as a passenger and decided I wanted
to finally ride myself. This class was awesome! I
will definitely be recommending this class to my
friends!
