The perfect working environment on the factory floor
Orangebox Ltd, know a thing or two about creating the perfect working environment. As a designer and
manufacturer of office equipment, the company is very aware of the impact your working environment has
on productivity. When they moved premises to a larger building in Cardiff, they wanted to avoid the perils of
air conditioning draughts, hot and cold spots and uneven temperatures, while also enhancing their green
credentials through the use of an energy efficient system. The new 2,500m2 building was set to house open
plan office space, meeting rooms, light manufacturing areas and a canteen. The Installation would require
cooling, heating and air purification.
Luckily, Orangebox contacted locally based Celtic Cooling and Heating, who had a wealth of knowledge and
experience about the perfect system for their needs, having worked with Hi-Velocity systems on a number
of similar projects.
10 Toronto Hi-Velocity Systems, each with the addition of the HEPS Purifier module and Mitsubishi 20kW
inverter heat pumps, provided sustainable heating, cooling and air purification for the manufacturing
areas. This was part of a total installation of 26 Toronto Hi-Velocity units throughout the building, by Celtic
Cooling and Heating. The HEPS Purifiers (as used by NASA) were specified throughout the building to
remove colds, flus and other contagious diseases to create a healthy working environment for all
employees. The HEPS also filters out dust, chemicals and other by-products of the manufacturing process.
With the HEPS installed staff can freely move around the manufacturing areas knowing the air they
breathe is purer than the air outside the building!
Treated air is delivered via drilled outlets in pre-insulated, lightweight duct work. The drilled outlets free
up wall space and offer an easy to design and install, industrial look which delivers even temperatures
throughout the conditioned space. The system’s unique air pattern also de-stratifies the air as standard,
ensuring heat is evenly re-distributed across the manufacturing area to save on energy and fuel costs.
Orangebox’s manufacturing area offers the ultimate working environment. All areas of the new premises
enjoy draught-free, even temperatures from floor to ceiling and all to wall. The addition of the HEPS
Purifier has created a clean and healthy working environment which will improve productivity levels and
reduce absentee rates due to illness.
