Invitation for CPRI Scholarship support for project work of
Post Graduate Engineering Students
Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) is a Research and Development organization
under the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. Set up in 1960, it functions as a centre
for applied research in electrical power engineering, assisting the electrical industry
in product development and quality assurance. CPRI also serves as an independent
authority for testing and certification of power equipment. CPRI's governing body
includes eminent professionals from industries & utilities, prestigious academic
and research institutions and the government. It employs qualified and experienced
Engineers and Scientists besides other supporting staff.
Empowering tomorrows engineers with modern technology and concepts in power is the need of the day. The
budding Engineers are to be trained to ride a galloping horse of change that dictate todays technology. They
should be enthused to innovate and develop entrepreneurial spirit of
the modern era and emerge as leaders in advancing the economy for
welfare of the nation.
CPRI has introduced a new Scholarship Scheme for M.E. / M.Tech
project work from the year 2014-15. Under this scheme, candidates
will work in CPRI Projects connected with In-house R&D Scheme
(IHRD) at Bangalore and its units at Bhopal, Nagpur, Noida,
Hyderabad, Kolkata and Guwahati. The programme offers candidates
an opportunity to pursue project work as part of their Masters course
while working in CPRI. The aim of the scholarship scheme for Post
Graduate (Engineering) project work in CPRI is to facilitate Post
Graduates students (M.E / M.Tech) work in advanced areas of Power Engineering. Project guidance and support to
selected students will be provided by Officers of CPRI. The guide from the candidates Institution can also closely
work with CPRI for successful completion of projects.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA AND OTHER DETAILS:
• Candidates from IIT’s, NIT’s and Engineering Colleges in India with minimum
90 percentile “GATE Score”
• Period of scholarship: 6 to 12 months (during their stay at CPRI)
• Scholarship amount : Rs.6,000/- per month
• Intake: 50 candidates per year
• Recommendation from Professor and HOD at the College is mandatory
• This is strictly a residential programme and all the scholars are expected to stay in
CPRI during the project work.
• Hostel Accommodation will be provided on twin sharing basis.
• Subsidized canteen facility will be provided
• Selected candidates will be placed in appropriate R&D Group / Divisions /
laboratory of CPRI.
