Presentation Guidelines
Oral presentations
Each 30-minute oral presentation slot will consist of a 20 minute talk followed by 10 minutes
for questions. Presenters must ensure that the duration of their talk adheres to the 20 minute
rule; our programme is very strict and we will be sorry to stop you if we had to. We advise
you on dividing your time, wisely, between the presentation and the questions. In any case,
you won’t be allocated more than 30 mins for your talk.
Presenters should prepare their own handouts if they wish to distribute them to the
participants. We advise presenters to bring between 10-15 copies to the conference. Please
inform the chair or one of the organizers in advance in case you want to distribute copies to
make the process run more smoothly and elegantly. You can email us at
langue2016@gmail.com with a copy. Please remember to number your pages, lines or
examples for ease of reference whilst the talk.
Presenters are encouraged to use PowerPoint as their presentation media. The conference
venue will provide computers, projectors as well as speakers for PowerPoint presentations.
Presenters who are using PowerPoint are strongly advised to send their presentations in
advance to langue2016@gmail.com to prevent delays in fetching data between the sessions.
Please send your presentations 2 days (June 14th) before the due date of the conference to
langue2016@gmail.com. Please make sure to name your ppt. file as the following:
YourLastName_Title.
The following guidelines should be helpful when designing PowerPoint presentations:
Please use Microsoft Office Version rather than Macs when producing your presentations.
Bring a copy of your presentation with you on a pen drive, just in case.
Please ensure any sound files you wish to play in the PowerPoint presentation have separate
backup copies, send these as well with your ppt to the email above, 2 days prior to the
conference day.
Poster presentations
Posters will be on display during lunch. Authors are expected to stand near their posters
throughout the poster sessions.
All posters should be handed over to the committee members of the conference during
registration at the registration desk. Presenters are asked to remove their posters by the close
of the conference Thursday 16 June 2016. Posters that are not removed by the allocated time
will be removed by the organizers who assume no responsibility for display materials not
removed at the appropriate time.
The following information should be helpful when designing your poster:
Each author will be assigned an A0 size (841 x 1189 mm) poster board (landscape).
Posters will be mounted on the poster board with Velcro and sticky tape, which will be
provided.
The abstract title, author, and affiliation should be indicated in a heading at the top of your
poster.
The title line(s) should be readable from at least 2 metres away - lettering should be at least
2.5 cm high.
The presentation must be readable from a distance, so please use an appropriately sized font.
Keep visual materials simple and clear. Try not to use too much printed text; graphs, charts,
tables and pictures should be used to communicate information where possible.
Simple use of colour can add effective emphasis.
