Act three written response assignment
Macbeth, in act one, could be classified as a “brave general.” In act two, he becomes a “reluctant killer.”
Come up with an adjective-noun descriptor to describe him in act three, and then defend/explain your
choice with three quotations from act three. Compose your response in one, well-written paragraph.
How to cite a Shakespearean quotation:
1. Quote: material taken directly from author
2. Tag: material that explains the quote
3. Source citation: material that documents the source
Example: “Fair is foul and foul is fair/hover through the fog and filthy air,” chant the witches in the
opening scene of the play [1.1.10-11]. (A remark of analysis should follow your quotation).
