Plagiarism is a very serious matter. Turnitin.com will be utilized as a writing, grading, teaching, and antiplagiarism tool in this class. Please refer to the school-wide plagiarism policy in the student-handbook if you have
any questions.
Food and Beverages: No food is permitted in this class. (This is a school-wide policy as many students have food
allergies.)
Leaving the Room: Ask for permission before leaving the room for any reason. You will be required to take a pass.
Leaving the room should be infrequent, and students may lose this privilege if it is abused. Also, please wait until
the bell rings to pack up or leave your seat.
Electronic Devices: All electronic devices must be powered down before entering the classroom and may not be
used during class without permission. If your cell phone goes off during class, disciplinary actions may follow.
Public Speaking/Presentations: For every major reading or writing assignment, you may be asked to present the
information in a creative way. This will not only demonstrate your understanding of the material, but also provide
opportunities for you to improve your public speaking skills.
Make-up Work
1. Excused Absences - You will have 2 days to make up work for every one day of an excused absence. YOU are
responsible for figuring out what you have missed during an absence. Ask a classmate, or find an appropriate time
to ask me.
2. Late Work - Essays and major projects are due on their due date without exception. Students will receive an
automatic deduction to 70% for any unexcused late work. Remember, any grade is better than a 0%!
3. DO NOT ask about extra credit. When extra credit is offered, it will be offered to the class as a whole.
Extra Help: You are encouraged individually seek help when needed. I would give you feedback on an essay while
you are writing than give you a lower grade later on. My schedule is listed below:
