Adjunct Faculty Pay Rate Guidelines
Graduate School of Education
Adjunct faculty are very important to the instructional programs in the Graduate School of
Education. They bring expertise from the practice world that is critical in keeping the
curriculum up-to- date and relevant. We recognize that we are never able to pay adjunct
faculty an amount that is commensurate with their expertise. At the present time, our fee
structure is as follows:
Adjunct Faculty: Someone with at least a master’s degree in their instructional area. To
be paid current AFT contract minimum amount per instructional credit.
Emeriti Faculty: PSU Graduate School of Education emeriti faculty will be paid $1200 per
instructional credit.
Exceptional Circumstances: In exceptional circumstances, someone with a doctorate
and/or special expertise in an instructional area with teaching experience may request a
higher salary rate. Any request for a rate higher than the usual minimum adjunct rate must
be approved by the Dean.
