9th Grade Elective PE - Weights and Conditioning
PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXPECTATIONS
This is an elective class in which you get high school graduation credit from; we treat this like a
high school class. If you don’t put forth the effort and produce results you will not be successful.
We will not be with the 7th or 8th grade PE classes Tuesday – Friday.
We will be doing our own warm up and activity (Small gym and outdoors for warm up)
No one has the right to interfere with the education, safety, and well-being of others

I. UNIFORMS




ALL students are required to wear PE uniforms purchased from student store
Legibly print last name on front and back of T-shirt and on leg of shorts
Shoes: Any athletic shoe with proper support, tied laces, or Velcro fasteners. No skate or slip on shoes
Sweats and/or sweatshirts may be worn over uniform when cold and/or rainy
II. UNIFORM POLICIES

Be prepared for class every day wearing required uniform – We will be going outside daily!


Any student partially suited up receives reduction in daily points
Non-suits will have option of step 1 for period or participate with loss of points
III. LOCKER ROOM EXPECTATIONS
 Every student is assigned a locker and lock and must pay the fine if lock is lost



Belongings must be locked up at all times
Use proper language and responsible behavior - No photography and no electronics
Personal hygiene is important
IV. SAFETY EXPECTATIONS
 No gum chewing in class/ No food or beverage allowed
 Do not touch any equipment unless instructed to do so
 Do not leave class without permission from your teacher
 Students wearing jewelry will not be allowed to participate and points will be lost.
 Stay in locker room after showering and changing until bell rings
V. MEDICAL EXCUSES
 Doctor's note needed to be excused for more than two days (daily points lost)
 Student with medical excuse must dress down for class – Any injury which means no participation is not
going to pass the class if it is longer than 4 weeks
VI. MAKE UP SESSIONS
A. Friday mornings during Advisory – dates and times posted in locker rooms, newsletter, and websites.
B. Make ups may be used for
1. Missing cardiovascular workouts
2. Non-participation with written medical excuse
3. Absences
C. Each make up session is worth a maximum of 10 points
D. May not be used for "refusing to participate" points lost or being lazy in class
VII.GRADING
9th grade Elective PE/ Weights and Conditioning - Standards Based Grading
Physical Education Standards
Standard 1: Students participate in regular physical activity to establish
and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness
(Daily participation, effort, daily warm-ups)
9 Elect: Students will need to be in their target heart rate zone for
30 minutes 10 times throughout the semester using the heart rate
monitor technology.
Weight/Conditioning: You will be graded on your Weight Card and
WOD improvement Card
Participation category in Skyward
Standard 2: Students demonstrate skills and apply concepts to a
variety of physical activities
(Skills Performance, meeting standard on fitness tests, 12 minute
run, Skills tests: Badminton, Pickleball, Lacrosse, etc. )

50%
Each absence is -5 pts
