The basic types of written communication used in the business setting which will be created by the

Use the following scenario as the basis for creating the above documents:
The manager of The Falcons’ Nest- the school store at Briar Woods- has assigned you and your
communication team the task of preparing a communication packet for all salespeople. The purpose of
your communication is in reference to the new Aztec Tee Shirt that will arrive at the store on April 25,
2016. You need to prepare the following communication:
1) Business Letter- the business letter is to be written to the vendor for the Aztec Tee Shirt. (BSN
Sports 5515 Commerce Drive Dallas, TX. The salesperson to whom the letter should be
addressed is: Mr. Joe King. The purpose of the letter is to commend the business for their
outstanding response to our request to develop this new product. The quality of the product is
outstanding, the response from the art department was prompt and creative, and the sales
process was excellent. We are very pleased with the product and the Falcons’ Nest looks
forward to working with them in the future on other new product ventures.
Prepare your business letter in the standard business letter format (Use Internet to find a template and
sample of how to set up margins, Salutation, and Headings including address information. Use proper
grammar and punctuation. Keep the letter professional and concise.
2) Business Memorandum- the memorandum is to be sent out to all Falcons’ Nest sales people
informing them of a sales training session that will take place on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. The
training will provide valuable product knowledge training on the new Azetc Tee shirt.
Attendance is mandatory and anyone with conflicts on this date needs to contact Mrs. Belote
immediately to arrange an alternate date for training.
Prepare your memorandum in standard business format- again use Internet to learn the proper way to
set up and write the memorandum. You are welcome to use any free templates you may find. Word is
a good source. Use proper grammar and punctuation. Keep the memo professional and concise.
3) Report- the business report is to be prepared for the CEO of the Falcons’ Nest (Mrs. Belote).
The report should be no longer than one page. The report includes your proposal for the best
location to display the new Azetc tee shirts in the school store, the reason for selecting this
location, and the recommended time frame by which the display should be complete to
maximize sales before the end of the school year.
Again, use the Internet to search how to write a formal business report. Keep the report simple,
professional and concise but cover the information requested above.
4) Company Publication- the company publication will be a simple newsletter to be distributed to
middle school parents that identify the following: who is the Falcons’ Nest; where are we
located; and new trendy and classic merchandise that Briar Woods students are wearing at
school. The purpose of the newsletter is to share news from the company (The Falcons’ Nest).
Again, the Internet will be your resource to find a template or sample. Keep this very brief- no
more than one page.
Each of the above pieces of communication must be prepared in WORD or another Microsoft Office
program and should be saved to your documents. Then attach each document to an email and write the
email as instructed below.
