work ethic and discipline.
What are the Studio Components?
Art 2 is a year long, intermediate level studio
course designed to help you develop studio
thinking skills and expand skills, processes and
techniques explored in Art 1, through
challenging projects and the artistic mediums
of drawing, painting, printmaking, mixedmedia, bookmaking, sculpture, ceramics and
graphic design/technology.
You will be guided and challenged to create
meaningful pieces of art by developing your
personal voice through research and
understanding of traditional and
contemporary artists, culture and history, and
in depth study and application of the elements
of art and principles of design.
Presentation/Class Collaboration
Additionally, you will be working more
independently (than in Art 1), and make choices
for desired project and assignment outcomes.
Studio Process and Production
What will I Iearn? As a result of this class, you’ll
Develop your creativity/imagination, and

previous knowledge.
Use the language of art in verbal and written
communication.

artwork of others constructively.

implications of art and technology.
Formal visual presentations (video (clips),
apps, power points/active studio and other),
collaborative activities and class discussions
are given to introduce visual concepts,
processes and artists relevant to project
challenges.
Demonstration
Hands on instruction and demonstration of
processes and techniques are introduced and
conducted in class. Specific use of tools and
equipment is demonstrated to you to enable
you to acquire necessary skills to complete
work safely and competently.
Studio is time in which you work in class on
assigned art challenges to allow hands on
instruction, monitoring, on going feedback
of your work while in progress.
Critique
You will participate in guided verbal and
written reflection and evaluation of your own
progress through individual, peer and group
discussion and critique. Providing feedback is
an essential tool to support your learning and
