Sides and conflict
(Bad)- The Sudanese Government and the Arab Militias
known as the Janjaweed. The Janjaweed is funded by the
government to carry out acts of violence against civilians
and defend against the SLM and JEM.
(Good)-The main rebel groups are the Sudanese
Liberation movement(SLM), the Justice and Equality
Movement (JEM), and the United Nations-African Union
mission (UNAMID). Both the SLM and JEM

People affected: African Minorities
- Mainly men women and children who were considered
minorities were targeted by the oppressive Sudanese
government.
- The Sudanese government was responsible for the killing,
torture, raping and displacing millions.

the amount of international troops in Darfur.

(UNAMID) is sent to help maintain peace in Darfur.
(2009-2010)-International Criminal Court issues a
warrant for Sudanese president Omar Bashir’s
arrest and for charges of genocide.
(2010)-The Sudanese Government and the JEM
sign a peace agreement.

End ResultThe Sudanese Government and the JEM sign a
peace agreement in 2010, but the Janjaweed
continues to attack civilians and raid villages.
There are also accusations against the Sudanese
army for launching air raids against Darfur villages.
The Janjaweed has moved into chad and begun
to terrorize the people there as well.
