How Does it End?
In the short story “The Lady or the Tiger?” the narrator does not tell us how the
story ends. There is no resolution. We are left with the image of the young man opening the door
on the right. What was behind the door? A beautiful lady or a hungry ferocious tiger?
Your assignment is to write an ending, or resolution, to the story. It should begin with the
moment the young man opens the door. It should include a detailed account of what happens
next based on what has happened in the past, the reaction of the princess, and a rationale for her
decision.
