TODAY’S OBJECTIVES:
Students will examine how the author’s purpose affects his/her
use of language and choice of form.
AGENDA:
1. In honor of Writerfest today, please choose one of the
topics to write about and then share with another or the
class:
“I once ate a….”
“I have never been more frightened than when...”
“Describe the perfect day. Make it a possible day,
not a "dream day."
“Write about what you didn't do this weekend.”
“Write about the time when, as a child, you played
in one of the following: treehouse, a cornfield, a
construction site, a junkyard, an abandoned house
or barn, a stream, a cemetery, a swamp, a pasture,
railroad tracks.”
“Describe the best concert you ever attended.”
“Write about the funniest thing that ever
happened to you.”
Add well-chosen details and vivid imagery to tell a story.
This story can be fact or fiction, comedic or tragic. Write
for at least twenty minutes….
2. Transition to modern urban warfare by reading
interview with gang members (“Street is Alive”) and
comparing to traditional warfare.
