ABSTRACT
The repeatability estimates for some reproductive traits was calculated
from data collected on 415 randomly selected traditionally managed Muscovy
ducks from two locations viz; Kaduna and Ilorin. The mean value obtained
for eggs laid in Kaduna was 17.72 while that for Ilorin was 17.94. The mean
value obtained for eggs hatched in Kaduna was 16.37 while that for Ilorin
was 16.62. the mean value obtained for survival to post brooding in Kaduna
was 8.41 while that for Ilorin was 8.72. One way ANOVA gave the required
mean squares between and within the ducks, which was used to estimate the
repeatability estimates of each reproductive trait. The repeatability estimates
are -0.397, -0.290 and -0.426, respectively for eggs laid, eggs hatched and
survival to post brooding. The estimates range from low to fairly high. The
standard error (S.E) of repeatability was ±0.0001936, ±0.0001912 and
±0.0001937, respectively for eggs laid, eggs hatched and survival to post
brooding.
