The publication was completed in July and is distributed at career fairs, high schools, job fairs, and ROP centers. This publication is also online and will be updated there. 1b Increase advertising & news releases Marketing & Recruitment • Linda Kalber developed 50 press releases and worked to bring the media to campus for the Martin Luther King Jr. March, facilities needs, the HP/MESA Wireless Mobile Classroom event, the Summer Academy, the Shrine Bowl, etc. • Increased advertising by more than $2,000 and placed 10 ads. 1c Add Web pages Marketing & Recruitment • Working with the IT committee and Graphic Impressions, Linda Kalber facilitated new Web design and greatly increased content to ensure that Web information reflects the breadth and scope of our printed publications. Kalber also worked with members of the campus community to make their Web pages accurate and current. • Nicole Luna developed online Staff News, calendar and phone directory. 2a Develop partnerships with the community to promote the college Goal 2: Public Relations • Nicole Luna coordinated the March Against Breast Cancer walk for the campus. • Linda Kalber served on the Martin Luther King March Committee, wrote letters to the community, and worked with the media. • Linda Kalber worked with Senator Ortiz to inform the community about Cal Grant workshops. • Linda Kalber wrote letters to the community informing them about the bond measure and SCC facility needs. Nicole Luna and student help Brandon Fong created databases and mailed the letters. • Linda Kalber helped develop speeches for campus representatives who appeared before community organizations to discuss the bond measure. • Linda Kalber volunteered her time evenings to coordinate a phone bank to inform voters about the bond measure. • Linda Kalber worked with Light Rail focus groups to promote more east/west routes to the campus. 2b 3a Through the Staff News, e-mail, and calendar updates, keep the campus community informed Goal 3: Improve campus communica tion • Nicole Luna sent 150 systemwide broadcasts • Linda Kalber published the Staff News 2x per month • Linda Kalber sent e-mails to everyone on the exchange regarding important events of broad interest to campus constituencies and forwarded information to be sent by email to students. • Nicole Luna added an online phone directory that includes e-mail addresses and Web pages for all full-time staff and adjunct faculty. She updates each time new staff is approved by the Board. • Nicole Luna transferred all calendar events to an online calendar, which is updated as needed for athletic, music, theater, SRC & CAC events. Goal 4: 4a 4b 4c Other Accomplishments Linda Kalber served on IT committee and Nicole Luna served on several interview committees. Both Kalber and Luna also volunteered their time to help with campus-wide events, such as All City College & University Day, Transfer Day, Transfer Night, and Commencement. In addition, the Public Information Office has been greatly impacted by e-mails and phone calls from students about PeopleSoft and has taken a greater role in providing schedule information for our students. The Public Information Office also mails and distributes schedules and catalogs to other colleges, training centers, the library and individuals who request them.
