CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLUB
Article I
Name:
The name of this organization shall be the Criminal Justice Club of Westfield State
University. Henceforth referred to as C.J.C.
Article II
Purpose:
The purpose of the C.J.C. shall be:
1. To promote the gaining of knowledge and general understanding of the criminal
justice field;
2. To provide students with an exciting, challenging, and rewarding experience
through the C.J.C.;
3. To provide students with specific information concerning the numerous and varied
fields within the criminal justice system;
4. To provide connections of communication between the college community and the
City of Westfield community;
5. To provide members with skills, training, and advice that will help them in their
post-WSU careers or graduate school;
6. To develop relationships between the students and criminal justice faculty and
alumni; and
7. To conduct programs that will carry out the above purposes.
Article III
Membership:
Section 1: Membership shall be open to all full time and part time undergraduate
students of Westfield State University who have paid their student activity
fees for the current academic semester.
Section 2: Members are considered active if they show an interest in promoting the
purposes of the club, and have the ability to attend club meetings and fund
raisers. All members must attend seventy five (75) percent of the meetings
and at least fifty (50) percent of the club activities to be considered a full
time member. The Secretary shall keep these records,

Officers:

The officers of the C.J.C. will include a President, Vice-President,
Treasurer, and Secretary. They shall be determined on an as needed basis.
The President shall be responsible for presiding at all the meetings of the
club, assuring regular meetings of the club, and all activities of the club.
The Vice-President shall presume all the duties of the President in case of
absence or resignation. In addition, he/she shall be a direct aid to the

President in the carrying out of her duties. The Secretary shall keep a
detailed record of all activities of the club and be entrusted with all club
correspondence. The Secretary shall take a principle role in dispensation
of information relative to the club and all club publicity. The Treasurer
shall be entrusted with the handling of the finances of the club, in
accordance with the guidelines set by the University. By taking on the role
of executive office, all officers shall be responsible for being present at all
meetings and activities.
Once a member’s election is complete, the elected will be informed two
(2) weeks after the elections occur.
Anyone that is interested in the C.J.C is eligible for running for office.
Requirements consist of;
1. A GPA of 2.0 or higher.
2. Must be an active member of the club.
3. Must submit a written speech on why they are a good candidate
for the position and present this speech to the club.
Once elected, each officer is to fulfill their duties their Undergraduate
Degree is completed or they resign from their position. If a position
becomes vacant, an election will be held to fill the vacancy.
Article V
Club Advisor(s):
Section 1:
The advisor shall be a faculty member, staff member or librarian of
Westfield State University.
Section 2:
Advisor(s) must be responsible for advising the club on all matters of
concern. Also he/she/they shall be present at club activities meetings
when possible.

Members can nominate themselves or one another at the meeting in which
the officers mention that there is an opening for an officer position.
Votes will be casted by a ballot that will be submitted into a ballot box at
the next meeting. These votes will be tallied by the advisor(s).
No election may be held if there is not a quorum of fifty percent (50%) of
the club members plus one (1) present at the meeting.
If a tie may occur, candidates included in the tie will be notified and will
be expected to present themselves with a written prompt as to why they
should be chosen for the position. A paper election will then be held at the
meeting and will be announced at the end of the meeting or once the votes
have been tallied.

The club will meet no less than twice a month.
Officers of the club may hold additional meetings with only the officers if
needed.
It is the President’s duty to call special meetings if needed.
Article VIII
Vacancies:
Section 1: If any officer position becomes vacant for any reason, nominations will be
made at least one (1) meeting in advance to fill the vacant positions. Refer to By-laws for
election procedures to fill any vacancy that may occur.
Article IX
Amending procedure:
Section 1: The constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the
voting members in the club and if approved by the Rules and Regulations Committee of
the Student Government Association.
Article X
Removal from Office:
Section 1:
If at any point the majority of the club two-thirds (2/3) questions the
performance of an officer’s role, at the President’s discretion the club
officers will meet and determine whether or not the officer in question
should be removed from office. If at any point the President is questioned
on their performance, the other officers will then meet to determine
whether or not the President should be removed from office.
Section 2:
If an Advisor is not performing his/her duties he/she may be removed by a
two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the club members. The President with
majority approval of the club members will appoint his/her replacement.
