Overview
 A copper BB shoots through a vinyl tube track for the
first leg of our roller coaster. The rubber tubing is
attached to a peg board and goes through several loops
and a spiral while working its way down the board.
 The BB then travels through a series of switchbacks
constructed from poster board during the second leg
of the journey.
Analysis of Stored Energy
 Copper BB
 Gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy
 Kinetic energy to gravitational potential energy at the
splice
 Gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy
Death by Trashcan
 Our team experienced several setbacks through the
“design process” which ultimately resulted in the death
of a certain trashcan including:
 Not enough track
 Excessively complicated ideas
 Problems during the “ride”
 Dignity
Conclusion
 The final product, “The Spiraling Trashcan of Death
Mark 3,” took approximately 5 hours to build and will
take approximately 15 seconds for the copper BB to
complete its run.
