International Employment Specialist
Purpose
Purpose:
To provide oversight in the evaluating, and coordinating immigration employment
issues within the Office of Equal Opportunity Services.
Essential Functions
Function 1:
Work with University administration to develop University-wide policy on hiring of
international faculty and staff. Develop and conduct training programs, workshops,
and materials for department administrators on immigration processes and UT
Arlington procedures for international employees.
25 % Time
Function 2:
Monitor changes in immigration and DOL legislation and alert international
community and hiring units about changes. Work to resolve complex problems
related to non-immigrant status by communicating with a wide variety of
government personnel and embassy and consulate officials.

Function 3:
Prepare and file immigration petitions and applications to USCIS and Department of
Labor on behalf of international employees. Update and maintain payroll's payment
request forms and HR's employment recommendation letter for international faculty
and non-student employees.

Function 4:
Develop and monitor database for caseload management, maintain list-serve for
international employees. Maintain an international employee handbook. Assist other
functional areas in Human Resources, as directed.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience in immigration law or at a university or
college preparing H-1, J-1, and permanent residency cases, or related area.
Knowledge of immigration and DOL regulations, hiring process, recruitment,
processing of paperwork for foreign nationals, including J-1, H-1, and permanent
residency. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated
ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Demonstrated knowledge of
software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Applicants

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's or J.D. in related field.
