Position Title Executive Dean (Math, Science and Allied Health) (Cedar Valley) Job
Description Summary/Essential Duties Responsible for the overall planning,
staffing, budgeting and the supervision of full-time and part-time personnel for
various departments and programs. Responsible for the supervision of various
programs, including the development of new programs, curricula, syllabi,
teaching assignments, room assignments and the evaluation of the effectiveness
of new and existing courses, instructors, programs, or services. Participates in the
selection, training, and evaluation of full-time employees through the
recruitment, interview and recommendation process. Responsible for the
supervision and evaluation of all full-time/part-time employees and other
contractual staff members assigned to area. Develops, implements and monitors
budget for all services within the assigned area. Responsible for implementing
policies and procedures as determined by the DCCCD Board of Trustees and the
rules, regulations and laws of state and federal agencies as they relate to the
assigned area. Contributes to or perform research and develops reports
summarizing area activity and projecting data related to things like contact hours,
student population, career/business/industry needs, tracking, transfer, etc.
Facilitates problem solving for appropriate college personnel and students as
required. Works with other administrators to ensure coordination of collegewide efforts to meet the goals of the College Plan. May instruct classes, arrange
for substitutes, or conduct classes for ill/absent instructors. May fill in for other
functions or arrange for appropriate substitutions to fulfill area services. May
write, review, approve or administer grants. May coordinate or schedule
semester course offerings, participate in registration process, provide academic
counseling for students and coordinate textbook selection/order process. May
develop and revise college catalog, instructional brochure, information handouts,
etc. May serve as the location administrator in charge in the absence of Vice
President or President. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum
Qualifications Master’s degree is required. Four years of experience is required,
including: 1) administrative leadership in a community college, higher education
institution, and/or related environment, 2) demonstrated experience in
educational program and/or curriculum design and development, and 3) a
minimum of two years of teaching in higher education in one of the disciplines
offered by the division (preferred). Ability to utilize computer technology to
access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate with others.
Proven ability to deal effectively with individuals and teams from diverse
backgrounds, funding agency officials and business/industry/community leaders.
Demonstrated experience at working successfully in a multicultural, diverse
student and college environment. Excellent written and oral communications
skills with individuals from diverse backgrounds. The ability to provide quality

Dean, Arts & Sciences /Supervisory Oregon City Campus Position Purpose Provide
leadership and management for the Arts & Sciences division. Departments
include Art, Business and Computer Science, Communication and Theater Arts,
Engineering Sciences, Foreign Languages, Horticulture, Music, Science, and Social
Sciences. Integrate college values and goals into strategic planning processes for
the division. Manage budget and assigned services, programs and curriculum.

The Dean of Academic Development is responsible for providing primary administrative leadership and supervision
for the academic and resource development area at the college of the Houston Community College System. This
leadership includes a major liaison function with public schools, colleges, universities, and appropriate business and
community groups in forging partnerships to enhance academic opportunities for students. This dean will work

Organizational Function and Responsibilities:
Madison Area Technical College is the technical and community college for the greater Madison area. It is dedicated
to providing accessible, high quality instruction and technical experience to meet the needs of its students,
community and area employers.
This position is responsible for directing the activities of the School of Human and Protective Services, which plays a
large role in enabling the College to achieve its short- and long-term academic goals and objectives.
The Dean develops and oversees strategies to accomplish goals, implement operational policies and procedures, and
develop and monitor complex budgets. Other responsibilities include unit planning; organizing, developing, directing,
and evaluating innovative academic programs and delivery; developing student retention plans and monitoring
enrollment goals; providing fair and efficient resolution of student-related complaints and issues; facilitating
collaboration across the College and the community; and building external partnership with four year colleges and
universities, public schools, business and industry, and other stakeholders.
This position must apply academic leadership principles by employing strategic and long-term thinking generally
acquired through significant managerial experience in institutional settings. Decisions made at this level require the
interpretation of broad academic goals and directives established at higher levels, and generally require the
development of plans concerning the allocation of scarce resources.

Essential Duties:
The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

1. Instills a clear vision to address current and future stakeholder needs through innovative programming and
delivery. Leads integrated programming initiatives and fosters a student-centered approach to learning by actively
