HOST PANCAKE FUNDRAISER MAY 14TH
The Rio Americano High School CIVITAS Academy presents the 22nd Annual Pancake
Breakfast and Auction on Saturday, May 14th, 2016 from 8 a.m. – Noon at Rio Americano High
School (4540 American River Dr. Sacramento, CA 95864).
This year’s event – organized entirely by students - is focusing on the issue of hunger with guest
speakers including California State Assembly Member Ken Cooley and California Department
of Education Child and Adult Care Food Program and Policy Specialist Jeanette Cosentino. They
will be talking about (do we know the subjects that they will discuss?)
The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines CIVITAS as “a body of people constituting a
politically organized community. The Rio Americano CIVITAS Academy offers students and
their families a four-year honors program teaching the importance of politics, exploring the
functions of government, and fosters thoughtful and meaningful discussion of world issues.
Students in the program are offered unique service opportunities, field trips, and internships to
help their development into community minded adults.
The event will also feature a Raffle and live and silent auctions with prizes including tickets to
Disneyland, local Concert events, condo vacation stays in Hawaii and Florida, complimentary
Karate Memberships and much more with proceeds benefiting the CIVITAS Academy.
For those interested in a morning of pancakes and political discussion, the public is invited to the
22nd Annual Pancake Breakfast and Auction, at Rio Americano High School on Saturday, May
14th, 2016, from 8 a.m – Noon. Tickets are $8 and include a breakfast. For more information,
