Mission of Greek Week
The mission of Greek Week is to provide a platform for coming together in celebration of community. Through events
surrounding service, education, and friendly competition, all participating fraternity men and sorority women will gain
experience in giving back, learning about one another, and appreciating interfraternalism.
2014 Greek Week Rules
1. No member of any team will arrive to any event intoxicated. If a member is found to be intoxicated at an event, the
entire team will be disqualified from the duration of Greek Week. Judicial sanctions will be brought against any team
that has member(s) intoxicated at events.
2. The following items are due in person no later than March 24, 2014 at 12PM in Sykes 238. Any team that fails to
meet the deadline will be ineligible to win. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. ONE PACKET PER TEAM.
**Packets can be handed in early by contacting Maggie Kelly. Each team’s packet will be recorded as submitted ONLY when either Greek
Week Chairperson receives all requested information, completed entirely. Entries will be time-stamped upon receipt.




Participant Registration Forms (found for each event at the back of the packet)
Receipt of Fee Deposit ($50 per team)
LipSync Music
Greek God/Goddess Talent (and Music, if necessary)
3. All participants for each team must be active, financial members in good standing with a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
4. The Greek Week fee is $50.00 per team. Make checks payable to the WCU InterGreek Council #661. The payment
must be turned in at the SSI service window and a receipt of deposit must be stapled to the Greek Week packet for
submission on March 24.
5. The rosters will include full names of all team participants and WCU Student ID numbers. Priority music selection
will be given to teams on a first come, first serve policy.
6. PARTICIPATION FOR THE WEEK MUST INCLUDE AN EQUAL NUMBER OF NEW MEMBERS AND INITIATED MEMBERS.
In accordance with the Anti-Hazing Policy, organizations with new member programs taking place in Spring 2014 are
responsible for managing team participation sign-ups to ensure that new members are not the only chapter
volunteers and that initiated members equally participate. Event type must be considered during sign-ups.
7. Performers and/or participants for each event are to arrive no later than the times listed for their respective events.
Any team with late participants will have one event point deducted for every minute the group is late.
8. All performances are to be in good taste and congruent with our values. If any routine is considered to be
inappropriate by a judge, advisor, or Greek Week chair, the routine will be stopped and the team disqualified.
9. All props and materials for all events must be submitted in list format with registration information for approval.
Without approval, the group will be deducted one point per un-registered prop for the corresponding event. All
teams are responsible for their individual props. Every team must bring and take home their belongings at the
beginning and end of each event. Any props left behind will result in a five point deduction per item.
10. Judgments and rules made or altered by the Campus Recreation staff, the Greek Week Chairperson, and the selected
judges are final. Their decisions are based on unbiased opinions. Any team caught arguing with any staff member,
chairperson, or selected judge will be deduced Greek Week points as seen fit.
NOTE: For the purpose of the BLGC team, not all chapters will be represented at each event, as their active chapters will be
dividing up the team challenges based on the availability of their smaller membership. All other rules must be followed.

The banner will be judged on three categories:
1. Greek Unity
2. Creativity

community, BLGC chapters must be listed individually. Chapter names are on the front of the packet.)
“Exercise Is Medicine” Initiative
Greek Week is partnering with the Exercise Science Club for 2014 to support an initiative called “Exercise Is Medicine,”
designed to educate students about health and wellness. More information about the initiative itself can be found on
Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/WCUExerciseIsMedicine. The partnership encourages chapters to look at
exercise in new ways. The following events/prizes are offered to chapters who participate:
Steps Challenge:
 Each team will identify one person to represent them for the week. Team members will pick up a pedometer
between the hours of 10am-2pm at the Penny Wars table on Monday, April 7.
 Representatives will strive to achieve the most steps between Monday and Saturday.
 Groups manipulating the numbers will be disqualified.
 Any team members may wear the pedometer for the week, but the registered team member MUST pick up and
drop off the pedometer on behalf of the team. No exceptions.
 Pedometers will be turned in to Exercise Science representatives on Saturday during Field Games. Teams with
the most steps will be awarded points according to the point structure in the packet.
Fitness Testing:
 At 6pm in Sturzebecker on Tuesday, April 8, fitness testing will be available to members of Greek Week teams.
 The team with the most chapter participation will win an exercise program OR sports-related tournament cosponsored by Exercise Science to be planned after Greek Week. Money earned will be split among chapters on
the team for philanthropies or donated to Camp Dreamcatcher in full (teams decide).
Obstacle Course:
 In addition to points, the team finishing FIRST in the Obstacle Course during Field Games will win a Smoothie
Social program with Exercise Science promoting nutrition and healthy eating for all chapters on the team.
 The team is responsible for setting the date and reserving space. Further details will be coordinated directly
with Anthony Blubello: AB749326@wcupa.edu.

2014 Penny Wars
Penny Wars will take place in Sykes lobby or outside of Sykes (weather permitting) from Monday, April 7 through Friday,
April 11, 2014. Proceeds benefit Camp Dreamcatcher.
How it works:
Money Donated Points:
 Pennies count as positive points. All other money (nickels, dimes, quarters, bills, checks, etc.) counts as
negative points equal to the cent value of the currency. For example, a nickel is equal to negative 5
points; a dollar bill is equal to negative 100 points.
 All money can ONLY be put into the jars during Penny Wars hours only (10AM-2PM) in the attendance of
the team on duty and a member of the Penny Wars committee.
 No foreign currency will be counted.
Table Staffing:
 Greek Week committee members will sign up for staffing first
 Your team will be sending the registered representative to the allotted time slot during Greek Week. Shifts will
be assigned based on the receipt of packets.
 Information about the expectations of Penny Wars will be sent to registrants via email and also located on the
tables during their shifts. Failure to attend shifts, assigned to your team, or meet expectations will result in a
deduction of 5 points for your team.
Overall Rules:
 Any tampering with the jars or the money within will count as an immediate disqualification of that team for the
rest of the week. Any disqualified team will still be required to fulfill any shifts they committed to and will face
the penalty of losing overall points for failure to attend.
 Volunteers who do not attend their shifts (or do not fulfill their responsibilities) will not receive their points.
 Jars will be closed Monday through Friday at 2 PM sharp. Once a jar is closed, no submissions will be accepted
until the table opens the following day.
 Collections end at 2 PM on Friday, April 11, 2013.
Greek Week Points will be awarded to the top three teams who raise the most positive points.
