Hardware specification



Processor, RAM and hard disk size. If you don’t specify anything we’ll assume you
want a low-range PC such as we are currently buying for basic office use.
Additional storage devices: eg floppy disk drive, ZIP drive, CD/RW
Other peripherals: eg printer, scanner
Networking information



Socket number (as shown on the data socket)
If socket not yet available, indicate the location (building and room)
Do you require any shared drives to be configured?
Applications software







MS Office: indicate which Office applications are required: Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
Access
Meetingmaker: indicate if you are an existing Meetingmaker user, and whether you
want any proxies set up
Dreamweaver
Acrobat Writer
Eudora: indicate any special settings required (eg Leave mail on server). Unless you
request otherwise a filter will be set up to put flagged spam messages in a Junkmail
folder
Browser: Internet Explorer and Acrobat Reader will be set up as standard. Indicate if
you require Netscape as well
Indicate any other applications software that you require to have supplied to install
yourself
Data to be transferred from old computer
LIS can transfer data from your old computer provided you indicate clearly what requires
transfer. Alternatively you can manage the transfer yourself.
 Documents in My Documents folder
 Eudora mailbox files
 Eudora settings file
 Eudora nicknames (addressbook) file
 Eudora stationery and signature files
 Eudora attachments folder (unwanted old attachments should be weeded out before
transfer)
 Multiple Eudoras (give details of usernames, and location of the Eudora data)
 Netscape bookmarks and/or IE Favorites
Disposal of old computer
Please indicate what you require LIS to do with your old computer (if any). The minimum
action is to delete the data and applications software from the hard disks.
 Hard disk(s) to have data and applications software deleted
 Hard disk(s) to be re-formatted
 Hard disk(s) to be destroyed
 Re-formatted PC to remain in department
 Re-formatted PC to be set up for another user (another form will be needed to give
details)
 PC to be removed for disposal
