CHAMPS
A Proactive and Positive Approach to Classroom Management

CHAMPS is a classroom management technique. It is designed to help
classroom teachers develop (or fine tune) an effective classroom
management plan that is proactive, positive, and instructional.

CHAMPS stands for:

Conversation - Can students talk to each other?
Help - How do students get the teacher's attention? How do they get their





questions answered?
Activity - What is the task/objective? What is the end product?
Movement - Can students move about?
Participation - How do students show they are fully participating?
Success - If students follow the CHAMPS expectations, they will be
successful.
•Reading:
Students must read a total of 100 minutes weekly
and the time read must be recorded on the reading log.
•Math:
Students must complete the weekly worksheet.
•The homework must be completed and
returned on Friday in their homework
folder.
Consequences:
sit out at recess until homework is completed
Agenda

Make sure you sign your child’s agenda
each night.

If the agenda is not signed they will miss
recess.

If your child has a color change it will be
marked in their agenda.
• Start practicing early!!!
• We begin teaching multiplication
the 2nd Six Weeks.
• Create flash cards and utilize the
great websites on our 3rd grade
webpage.

 Now how would you solve this using one
of the following:
1) Open Number Line
2) Hundreds Chart
3) Base Ten
4) Decompose

Please take a look at the Denton ISD or
the 3RD grade website to find out more
information about the STAAR testing.
 The students will be given only 4 hours to
complete the STAAR Test.
 The STAAR test has more rigorous
questions than the TAKS test.

Report Cards
Report cards are standards based.
 You will see a 1,2,3, or 4 on the report
card for each TEK we assess.
 These grades are based on the
assessments we give in class, not the
classwork we do; therefore, all

classwork that is returned will not
have a grade marked on it.
Progress Reports

Progress reports will be sent home toward
the middle of the six weeks after the
content has been taught and assessed.

The progress reports will be the
homework folder.

You should look over it with your child and
return it signed.
