What is going on in the pictures?
Picture Sequence Example
Telemachus is arriving at Sparta with King Nestor’s son. They travel
and stop at someone’s house, but leave to continue their journey.
They arrive at King Menelaus’s palace and are welcomed. They
receive baths and join the feast.
How do you know? What SPECIFICALLY do you see that
tells you what is happening? Is there anything that you
are supposed to infer (guess or figure out) from the
pictures?
I see Telemachus riding in a chariot with another person.
I am inferring that the person is King Nestor’s son
because King Nestor said he would have one of his sons
take Telemachus to see Menelaus. I don’t know whose
house they stop at, but it looks small compared to the
other homes I have seen so far, so I don’t think it’s the
palace of a king. On page 31, the house is much bigger, so
I think that is Menelaus’s palace. They get baths and the
people at Menelaus’s palace aren’t pointing swords or
spears at them, so I think they are welcomed there.
