Serving to Heal
In a world degenerated by pollution and unhealthy lifestyle, the ancient Indian
science of Ayurveda holds the key to good health. Relying largely on the human
body's inherent capacity for healing, it offers a treatment system that is free from
side effects.
It is to bring you the benefits of this time tested system of medicine that the S.D.M.
Ayurveda Hospital at Udupi was established. A unit of the Sri Dharmasthala
Manjunatheshwara Educational Trust, the Hospital is guided by the noble traditions
of Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala, the venerated pilgrim centre of Dakshina Kannada.
The project is also a tribute to the personal interest taken by its president Dr. D.
Veerendra Heggade, the Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, a man of rare vision and a
deep commitment to preserve our country's priceless heritage.
With a tradition of over forty years, the Hospital is today a widely acclaimed centre
for natural healing, which attract patients from even foreign countries. Its
magnificent octagonal architecture - inspired by the eight branches of Ayurveda
houses a 300-bed facility. The treatments offered are varied, encompassing almost
the entire range of Ayurvedic remedies. Alternate disciplines like yoga and
physiotherapy provide an integrated approach to recovery.
Though the science of Ayurveda is an ancient one, the S.D.M. Ayurveda Hospital, for
all practical purposes, is a modern hospital incorporating contemporary techniques of
administration and medical management.
The Hospital is closely linked to the S.D.M. Ayurveda College and S.D.M. Ayurveda
Pharmacy, which provides a bulk of the medicines prepared from natural ingredients.
