 High School Assistant Principal – Activities
The position of High School Assistant Principal for Activities organizes and administers all non-athletic student
activity programs and co-curricular activities. This position oversees all aspects of non-athletic student activity
programs, including supervision and coordination of all financial matters pertaining to student accounts; supervision
of dances and custodial and security staff assigned to student activity events; and advise student government
sponsor in addition to performing other assigned duties of an assistant principal.

Coordinate the selection, organization, implementation, and evaluation of school and group projects in
conjunction with student organizations and faculty advisors.
Develop, initiate, and implement student activity programs which encourage constructive communication

Ensure that clubs and organizations comply with state laws and district policies and procedures relating to
student activity programs.
Ensure that clubs and organizations are properly chartered and that constitutions, financial procedures and
activities planning are accurate.

Work with students and faculty advisor to see that proper planning has been done which will assure
reasonable expectations of success for scheduled events.
Coordinate and supervise communication links between students, administration, faculty, and community,

 High School Assistant Principal – Athletics
The position of High School Assistant Principal for Athletics supervises and coordinates all aspects of the school’s
athletic programs to ensure adherence with MPS, AIA and NFHS guidelines. This position oversees all aspects of an
athletic program, including hiring coaches, scheduling, budget preparation, promotion, facility management, athletic
eligibility, player equipment and security in addition to performing other assigned duties of an assistant principal.
This position requires additional hours per week for athletic events and other duties associated with athletics, i.e.,
parent meetings, team meetings, tournaments, etc.

Abide by the by-laws set forth by the AIA and their contents.
Develop, initiate, and implement an overall philosophy for the school’s athletic programs.
Work with students and staff to see that proper planning has been done which will assure reasonable
expectations of success for scheduled events.
Supervise and/or provide for the proper supervision of all student athletic contests and other activities
associated with athletics; supervision will be required at away events, i.e. rivalry games, section tournaments,
region tournaments, state tournaments.
Schedule home and away athletic events, following the guidelines of the AIA and MPS; f ollow-up with
coaches to ensure transportation needs are arranged and sufficient for away athletic events.
Develop a plan for recruiting, interviewing, screening and recommending of qualified persons to fill coaching
vacancies within the school’s athletic programs.
Assist in the selection, placement and evaluation of coaching staff assigned the school; oversee AIA and
MPS eligibility status of coaches.
Develop and implement with the head coach a system to evaluate the coaching staff throughout the season.
Work with coaching staff to develop goals for athletic program improvement; provide leadership to identify
program strengths and weaknesses; assist coaches in assessing their individual programs in relation to
program objectives.
Communicate and work with school parent booster club in support of student athletics.

in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.

Develop and manage the athletic program budgets to ensure budget allocations are consistent with
program needs.
Supervise fundraising activities for the athletic programs and individual clubs.

Provide uniforms and equipment for each sport to ensure a safe athletic experience for the programs.
Work closely with the equipment manager for the requisitioning, storing, issuing and inventory of supplies
and equipment to ensure sufficient supply and availability.

The position of High School Assistant Principal for Registration supervises and directs all aspects of the student
registration process. This position oversees all aspects of new student registration including new enrollment, open
enrollment, and enrollment of foreign exchange students in accordance with state regulations and district policies
and procedures. This position coordinates and oversees the planning of high school graduation in addition to
performing other assigned duties of an assistant principal.

to prepare all students for high school graduation and successful transition to college or their careers. This position
oversees school-wide student advisement functions including the development of ECAPs, implementation of college
and career readiness efforts, and dropout-reduction initiatives and interventions. In addition to performing other
assigned duties of an assistant principal, this position develops, leads and evaluates student success efforts and
credit recovery options.
