Strategic Plan Goal 3.2 Meeting
December 16, 2009

II. Overview of Goals and Strategic Planning Process (Amy Bosley)
A. Plan is geared to Valencia
B. Measures and targets should be geared to Valencia
C. Choose targets (that are achievable/realistic)
D. The Plan may be messy, may not be precise; may not find measures that exactly
measure. It may be anecdotal-note things that are indicators that we are moving in
the right direction.
E. Review of “5 questions” to be reviewed by each team
F. Strategic Thinking vs. Tactical Thinking

 Where do we want to go ultimately?
 What part of that can we bite off in the next three years?
 What is currently happening at the college to get us there?
 What measures can we use to help us identify progress?

V. Meaning of Career Growth:
Career growth is not just getting promoted. It may include growing in skills for one’s
current job, other jobs within an individual’s department or gaining skills to make one a
potentials candidate in another area of the college. Our goal will be that each individual
employee will contribute value to help Valencia achieve its goals.
